Ashford University Reviews:

Don't let the false propaganda fool you

The online component of the place is run by a business and is not a real academic institution run by academics. The faculty don't really have much of a say in what goes on outside of just doing their jobs of grading for the online classes. I noticed that most of the students in my classes can barely put a decent sentence together and seem to be borderline illiterate. If these are the people getting degrees, then a degree from this so-called school is worthless. There are no tutors to help students who obviously need it and they don't require students to take a placement test to see what they need help with. Think about it, if just about anyone can get a degree with little work, then what is the degree worth? I plan to transfer out to a real college as soon as possible and I will just pray that they will take my credits. I really don't know why this place hasn't been shut down already.

Loving Ashford!

Honestly I think Ashford is the best online program. I had tried Kaplan once before and had a horrible experience with the instructors not answering emails or helping you with assignments, not even the advisors were available when you needed them. At Ashford I have had the easiest time getting a hold of somebody if I need them. Instructors normally reply without 24 hours, although some obviously don't like their job and take a little longer to respond. The materials and books are good and can be bought much cheaper through half.com or ebay. I have had to wait a few days to hear from financial aid, but they always answer my question without leaving me still wondering. I have been with Ashford for about 6 months know and I truly believe this school is right for me and that I will graduate successfully with my BA and I recommend them to anyone who asks. I even got my friend from another school to transfer, she loves it also!

It Is What It Is

I have attended Ashford for two years and have a year to go. I did extensive research online before choosing an online college. Ashford, at the time, was the cheapest. So far I have not had any problem with financial aid or anything else. They email me to remind to fill out my FAFSA and let me know of all other documents I need. I get it in on time and have never had a problem. The classes are challenging and if you read and do your assignments you will learn a lot. If you do not read and just copy and paste assignments and papers you will not learn anything and really do not deserve the degree. You do pay for the convenience of getting a degree online, but I live 40 minutes away from the nearest college and drove back and forth for two years. I enjoy having the flexibility of doing it online. The classes are equivalent and some better than what I took at the local college. Overall it is a good school.

Don't believe the negative

I had a lot of trepidation in choosing Ashford University. I read all the concerns student's and ex students had to my advisor, because they brought up valid concerns. I enrolled thinking the worst. To my surpise, I have yet to find anything that these negative reviews say. It's college, it's complicated. It's not easy. but, if you do your work, and actually try. You will do fine. Instructors answer all my questions, and my advisors are well informed. I say, give it a try. If you don't do your best, you won't have a good experience. It's college!!!

Bachelors of Social Science/Education

I enrolled here around this time last year and went for a while, but after getting a job at University of Phoenix, I decided that a free education is better than paying for one. Well I hated my job at U of P and resigned. Now I am going to return. Ashford has the best program for working adults, especially those like myself who hate traditional school. Once class every 5 weeks will fly by and before you know it, you are done and moving on to another course. I would recommend this school to anyone and would def agree that most reviews that are negative here are the people writings fault more than the school. Just because you aren't disciplined to do your work isn't Ashford's fault. Take responsibility for yourself!
