WGU has an excellent Post Bacc Teaching Cert program for Social Studies. I had completed my BA years prior the traditional way. It took a bit to get used to the self paced, non graded structure at WGU. Once I overcame those initial obstacles, my studies at WGU went smoothly. You are assigned a mentor to help you every step of the way. WGU also has a great online community. You can talk and discuss assignments with people who are going through the same course as you are at the same time. The program requires commitment and a focus. I ended up writing alot of papers. I was able to use everything I learned during my 12 week student teaching portion. WGU was very supportive and even found me a host teacher. I recommend looking into WGU if a self paced independent study is for you.
