I completed a Certificate of General Studies after high school before attending UW- Green bay. It consisted of at the time 30 credits and was for general education. Of the ten courses I completed were College Composition and several courses covering the first year of a core course requirement at most colleges and universities. Now this was a traditional correspondance program with snail mail assignments and hand grading but was very well presented, the instructors were wonderful and constructive in their critical analysis of work and now I'm enrolled for my BS at Excelsior in two business classes. I still find them as good as ever at practical teaching although the certificate I recieved is no longer offered. But if you need a course for college and don't mind taking your time this is a fine option I can't praise the instruction enough or the course materials. It is not the least expensive such program in the United States but is a fine one. And fully accredited as its part of the UW- Madison campus.
