Herzing College

I am a three time graduate of Herzing University. I finished an Associate’s Degree in 2002, then a Bachelor of Science in 2007, and an MBA in 2012. It makes me angry when I read the reviews that some students write about the University. Herzing is just like any other University in the sense that the instructors and staff are there to teach, not babysit the students. As scholars of the University, it is the responsibility of the student to be in class and do the assignments. Some of these accusations are ridiculous! One person is complaining about their graduation being pushed back two months because they failed a class. Well, what did you think would happen? Come on people!! Its College, you have to put in work. If it was easy, then everyone would be doing it. The University is not going to give the degrees away. That’s why they say “Earn your degree”. I see complaints about graduates not being able to find a job after graduation. I graduated in 2007 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Information Technology. I reached out to the career development department and Chris Spangler, the Associate Director of Career Development, critiqued and provided feedback on my resume and I started applying for jobs. Six months later I had my first job in my field! I have been working ever since but it wasn’t just one resume I sent out. I sent out at least 10-20 resumes a day. Now that’s what you call job hunting! I know people who have attended the larger State Universities and have Master’s degrees, and they still aren’t working in their fields. No one will just put a job in your lap just because you have a certificate or a degree. There is more work to be done after graduation. You have to make a job out or looking for a job! Utilize the career development department. That is what they are there for. Herzing was a wonderful choice for me as a working adult! I have an awesome career and I am making a great salary (6 figures). But it doesn’t happen overnight. No matter what University you attend, you will only get out of it what you put into it.

I am currently in the program. I am not finished yet but we've been through the majority of the program so far. All I can say is that I liked the first teacher we had and then they gave us a different one for the later courses and everything went downhill. I lost faith in the school. The dean doesn't treat the students like adults, the teacher flies off the handle at random, and most of us (the students) don't have any motivation to show up for class on a regular basis. That being said, the technology is being used very well as the course requires the use of a computer at all times. The textbooks are in moderate to excellent shape, the staff is friendly for the most part. My only real gripes are the one teacher and the academic dean.
