Grantham University

Attending Grantham University was one of the best decisions I made. Enrolling was easy and had my own counselor assigned to me to help me thru the entire process. I was able to transfer my Air Force credits as well as community college credits toward my degree. I also received help and guidance to complete the VA paperwork and navigate the VA entitlement process. I ended up not paying out-of-pocket for my degree! The courses were engaging and informative. During my educational experience, I worked 2 different job and deployed twice. I was able to continue my schoolwork at my own pace and from wherever (as long as I had an internet connection). The best was the actual completion of my degree. Grantham does an amazing job at fulfilling the University graduation experience. Even after completing my degree, I still remain in contact with Grantham.

I completed my Masters Degree in Performance Improvement and had no issues at all with Grantham. It is like any institution where you will get what you put into it, to include some instructors I preferred over others. But that is life in general. I am retired military and I thought the degree was no different than leading Soldiers, just in the civilian world they call things different, but the application was the same. It was just a matter of unplugging military jargon out and plugging civilian jargon in. I would recommend the degree to anyone in leadership, it will provide more tools in their toolbox.

This is a course that I would recommend to anyone that wants to further their education. It is geared towards the students that are working, in the military, or getting ready to rejoin the work force. The 8 week courses make it achievable.

I enjoyed every class at Grantham University. As an adult student, balancing two jobs and being a dad was challenging enough. Grantham made going to school a very painless choice. The professors and advisors were more than willing to allow late assignments(with some minor point reductions). They understand that sometimes a job and parenting comes first and as long as you are willing to put in the work, they will work with you. Grantham is also one of the most affordable only adding to the value of my degree.

I had a great experience with Grantham. I was able to attend an affordable program and do it completely on my own time. Other programs require you to sit for lectures at certain times, but Grantham just provides due dates for assignments and you can choose when to complete them at a time that works for you. The 8 week terms were ideal for me because I didn't get bored with a topic and was constantly learning. The professors were responsive, and my advisors would check in on me several times throughout each term. I never needed any help from Grantham since they answer all questions up front and have great resources on their website for all questions, but I always knew who I could go to for help if I ever needed something. I have referred my colleagues to Grantham, and am very thankful to have chosen this school for my MBA experience!

Before I started I was told I could begin on academic overload. Then the story was that I'd be able to after taking their fake 1 credit "college success class" that had no point and big brother written all over it. Then I had to complete another semester. Then the dean wouldn't approve academic overload because 3 days before the end of class with every assignment turned in and a 98% wasn't an actual "A" grade until the teacher issued it and he wanted to wait. So after 10 credits and a 4.0 GPA I was finally able to begin academic overload even though the academic counselors lied to me (and are impossible to reach if you have a problem) and the actual school standard is 6 credits. The next delay is that you can only take PRJ classes one at a time and they wont schedule (or didn't) schedule them paired with a regular class. So when all you've got left are the last four PRJ classes your forced to drop back out of academic overload "for your own good". They added literally months to the time its going to take to complete the degree program with their dean who can't rub two brain cells together and dishonest scheduling practice. If your ever able to reach them with a problem there is no actual solution they can offer. You just dance around fake answers until you realize they don't care and nothing is going to change.

I graduated Nov 2014 with my bachelors of science in Electronics Engineering Technology. Since then I have gained employment with a tier 1 automotive supplier as an automation/controls engineer. I have decided to go back to school this fall and I researched a lot of schools. I found Grantham to be the most affordable and user friendly. I am in my third course in MBA-PM degree. People look down on Grantham, I think their degrees are worth the time and money.

I have completed my bachelor's and I'm about to complete my graduate degree -MS Information Technology from Grantham. This is a great school with highly qualified instructors who are ready to teach you. I believe the school is good for everybody who is willing to take the challenge to learn. If you are mature student who works full time/part time and have a family this is the best school for you. You will receive current information and as for the flexibility, it's fantastic. My company is now paying for my tuition and my salary has increases.If you going to study MSIT, I would advise that you get some certification in addition and you will be good to go.

I decided to apply at Grantham University as a gentlemen from the college came to our mess hall at the Vermont Air National Guard to offer college options. I decided to go with the Criminal Justice major. (They only offer Bachelor of Arts for CJ degrees by the way.) They seemed helpful at first when I was enrolling and I had a part-time job, I was able to keep up while getting decent grades. I won't lie and say that I'm a hard working student, because I'm not. When I was out of a job, I nearly had a 3.1 GPA as I had LOADS of time to work on papers and anything they needed me to do to pass. I got a part time job and was able to fluctuate between 2.5 and 3.0, until I was scheduled more hours and was doing work they could have just hired more people for. I'd work on things here and there, but when I needed special circumstances, the professors were not always helpful. (When my mother passed, I fell behind and was granted extra time to complete the courses and I did, hence why I said "not always helpful.")I changed to a degree program of Bachelor's of Science in Computer Science late last year. I've asked for extensions near the end of the term due to just wanting to take some time to decompress from work and spend time with my family: No incomplete granted. I have been working many hours of overtime at work to ensure we have coverage as I have a full time job now and I work 3rd shift and sometimes 12 hr overnight shifts on Friday or Saturday nights.I hear weekly from my soon to be step daughter about how she never sees me because I'm working or sleeping.) I understand they don't HAVE to give you one, but I just feel they should be a bit more understanding to the personal lives of their students outside of Angel or BlackBoard. Every student that attends here has a job that helps them play bills and has a family, but if you end up with a job that only gives you one day off a week at times, this college is not for you. Apparently, if you are in the Air Force or any of its components, (Air National Guard, AF Reserve) wanting help with your CCAP; talk to your Base Education and Training Office about CLEP,DANTES, or any local colleges offering free courses to you and your fellow airmen. It'll be less of a headache in the end. I regret even filling out the interest card.

I am a student at GU now and I really do not have issues like some of these I am reading. Just like any normal University's some of the Instructors are horrible but I have had some awesome Instructors as well.(Instructor Ryan Douglas is great!) He genuinely cares for his students, like I have stated they have some nonchalant Instructors as well. My biggest issue with this University is transferring my credits from my prior University and I was told that they would accept some of them; yet it has been almost a year and nothing has been done.

Some companies and other schools look down on Grantham for not being regionally accredited and abet accredited. I believe the classes to be as hard or harder than a brick and mortar school classes. One thing they do need to incorporate in the instrumentation class or make a new one, is PLCs.

I started Grantham to obtain the BSEET. I already had military and an AS Electronics behind me. A lot of previous course work and tech school transferred over. I later quit Grantham, and then came back to finish a business admin degree. I had already worked in engineering for a few years without a BS Engineering, and getting one wouldn't help much now. So I decided to go the business route due to my experiences that engineering in big business isn't really my thing. I am ready for more managerial type work. If you already work for a corporation or are in the military a Grantham degree is great. It will combine with your experience and help your career out. If you are an 18 year-old kid working at Subway I would advise you not to go to an online school; I feel experienced working adults will benefit from Grantham much more than younger people who are not in the military or working for a major corporation. Overall Grantham has been a good school. It isn't a fly-by-night kind of place, and the advisors are sometimes good, sometimes not so good. My advisors in the past two years have been excellent. I can say that Grantham today seems of better quality in all areas than Grantham from a few years ago.

The best learning environment I have come across in 49 years of attending schools. It is the only online learning I have attempted in all honesty. Grantham is the first and only online University I have attended. 4 "Terms" in and it has performed way beyond my rosiest expectations. I have had financial aid and registration problems. I was made aware of the problems by email. I always stayed on top of it and every problem has been resolved by email so far. No need to talk to anyone. Perfect as far as I'm concerned!

I am going through the same issues with Grantham right now. . They are trying to force me to take more courses by erroneously awarding me an associates degree for which I never applied. They sent me an associates degree and then told me that in order to get a second degree only 75 percent of my credits go toward the second degree. This would make me have to take 5 more classes to get my bachelors degree. The problem is I just want my bachelors degree I never asked for an associates. If they didn't erroneously send me an associates degree I would be in my last class as planned. They are trying to say I applied for an associates degree but my degree plan has always been a bachelors degree. I too am seeking legal counsel. I have been a student at GU since 2011. I have completed 113 credits, and the catalog indicates I need 127 to graduate. That means I need 14 more credits (two required 3-credit classes, and two 4-credit classes... one is required the other is an elective) to graduate, or, that's what I thought. When I asked the admissions office how many classes I need to complete to graduate, after almost two-weeks waiting on a response, they said I needed to complete 5 classes (two 3-credit classes and three 4-credit classes... 18 more credits). This means I need 131 credits to graduate. I am seeking legal council about this. How can a college promote 127 credits to graduate on their website and in their catalog and then when the student is ready to complete the course, force s/he to take an extra class? The only thing I can think of is MORE MONEY from the student. I would transfer but it would end up costing me more, and I would have to take even more classes, as many of GU classes probably would not transfer. If you decide to go there, read everything!!!! and make sure you know how many credits you will need to complete for graduation.

I just completed my bachelors of science with Grantham University and got excepted to Walden University and Charleston Southern University from my graduate program. I think most of the complaints about Grantham any other online schools is because of financial aid. I think people are going to school for the money and not to advance their careers. I had already attended college and only had 61 credit hours to complete at Grantham and over that 18 months period I didn't have any problems. Michael Donner

I started my Bachelors of Management here back in 2011 and jumped ship when I was told by my TAP person that going to them was a mistake. I cannot say that I did and should have never left. I finished my BS at Kaplan University and for the most part so no difference at all except for the price tag and the Regional versus National Accreditation. I decided to come back after trying another Master's level school but found myself comparing them to Grantham so I dropped the other and came back. I feel the courses and programs are just like any other school, you get out of it what you put into it. If you do the reading and apply it during the discussions and assignments, you will get the material that you are supposed to. Just like any school, there are good and bad teachers but getting past the course in 8 weeks is quick and next thing you know, you have a good teacher again. Some of the material seems kind of outdated at times, but that is what the research is for when it comes to assignments. I cannot say that this degree will do any better than my BS from a regional school, but after completing it almost 2 years ago, I just recently got a job that requires the information I learned in the process. I believe the education is good, and hope that the degree will help to better me along the path of life.

I started with my AA in Electronics, got my BSEET and the my MBA in Project Management at Grantham. I started when the school was in Slidell and followed them through to Missouri. I gained a lot from my education there, although I feel that some instructors were less involved and less critical of assignments than others. It ocmes down to gaining what you have invested in the education. Most of the problems I have seen are in the administrative and financial aid department. I had no issues there and used my military TA throughout my education.

After reading many comments from other former students, I decided to chime in with my opinion. I live in Slidell, La, just down the street from the former Grantham University. I was in the Louisiana National Guard at Camp Villere, and we were solicited to continue our education using our benefits; tuition exemption is an earned benefit of LANG membership. I didn't have time to check out the program because we were deployed that year to Afghanistan, but when I returned I did start to take a few classes. Hurricane Katrina put a stop to my continuing education after a few classes, but I picked back up in 2008 as a full-time student at Grantham. I'll admit, the classes were at your own pace, so I waited a month to get started, then spent every spare moment of the second month completing assignments and reading the books. After they switched to Angel, the classes were more structured, and I got into the rhythm of assignments and discussions. I only experienced one issue; after completion of a class, I was informed that that class was no longer part of my curriculum, but despite that change, I learned new information from taking the class, got to keep the grade to boost my GPA (not all A's are given, I had to earn my grades), and they refunded me for the full cost of the course. I graduated with a BS in Business Admin in 2011, immediately got a new job based on my degree, and earned my MS in Information Technology from Grantham in 2014. Admittedly, the Master of Science degree was a struggle, and maybe I could have slacked off (it appears not all students put forth the same effort into assignments), but I am pleased with my decision to attend Grantham. My bosses like that I have continued my education. You get out of it what you put into it. At times I feel like I am not respected for having attended an Online institution, but we cannot all attend the same university. I held down a full-time job the entire time I was enrolled, and balanced personal time with my course work obligations. Still, I have been rejected from Textron for not fitting the description of the desired intern due to my online degree because they really wanted someone from a big Ivy League Institution. It is what it is. I have a great job because of my earned degree from Grantham. What else is there?

I read all these horror stories and in the 5 years I have been going (2 Bachelor Degrees) to Grantham, I only had one major issue...and in all honestly it was my fault. Sure I had some issues with various teachers and such but never had unanswered replies or questions. Student Financial Aid (FA) goes like this; fill out everything correctly, first time submitting or submitting in January or October (larger amount of people enroll) takes longer, and when any award is shown in your Grantham account they will hold it for 14 days as this is what they are allowed to do. During this time it may show a - (negative amount) only if you have anything left after paying your tuition and this will be your refund. You cannot have it any other way...it will go to the school first and you will wait up to 14 days. Then on the 14th day it will be processed for a refund. If you set up for direct deposit(quickest way)then it will take 72 hours after the 14th day to show up in your account, anything sooner is a blessing. The last few times I got my refund on my 11th day after being credited to my Grantham account and thought the Earth shifted in the universe. All teachers are different and grade differently, some are up your butt and others are lazy giving you an A for spelling your name right. If you don't think this happens at any other college then you are an idiot as big name colleges offer extra credit assignments, grade on a curve, or just give you a passing grade so they look good for their yearly review and get a nice bonus. On line schooling is not about having a teacher at all...it's about receiving the weekly assignments and turning them in and learning on your own. It is not for everyone. The teacher is really there to grade your stuff and help you in the very short amount of time you have learn 2 or more chapters of knowledge in a week. I personally have been able to put what I have learned to use and have received 2 promotions at work, one of them to an Engineering role. If you think you will remember everything from classes on government to writing C++, you're an idiot. I had some classes that were just PPT or referencing websites but because I read them...guess what, I still learned something. I have not received an A in all my classes even trying to do my best (the labs in General Chemistry where a pain), and no it wasn't a B either. Hey....IT'S ONLINE SCHOOLING, what do you expect? It will never be looked at the same as attending campus schools but some employers look for Bachelors Degree... ok check, you're good to go. I don't expect to have someone like NASA drooling because I graduated from Grantham, but I'm still better off than having no degree. I don't regret going to Grantham and in my mind it's the best thing I've ever done. I would not be making $75k a year without my degree (still need to finish one more) from Grantham coupled with my military experience working on electronics

Just completed another course for performance improvement. So far two instructors have been exceptional, one mediocre, one terrible. Two courses were fairly well designed, one needed improvement and the last was a disaster. Just as the perfect storm the terrible instructor was paired up with the class that was poorly designed. Attempted to get help from the school and that essentially stopped at the student advisor level as the chair essentially took no action to rectify a poorly designed class or an instructor whose focus was more on form than on function. They will get only one more chance, then I move somewhere else.

I have been going to Grantham for about 7 months now. Never had any issues with anything. Which from reaidng these commments seems I shouol dhave all kinds of issues. I have needed a refund from them for a transcript and got it in aboiut 4 days. No different then getting one for something I bought online. Heck, Ebay or paypal take longer then that. I have also emailed Teachers, student advisors and recieved an email with in 24 hours, usually within 2-4. After having some issues not being ablke to see my classes. I called and the guy walked me through the new blackboard. Spent about 15 minutes helping me navigate through it. I have had issues with submitting work that it didn't open right and the Teacher understoofd and just had me resubmit it. It did take 3 times submitting it but this was before blackboard. The teacher coul dsee where I was submitting it and then it just wouldn't open or would crash her computer. She knew wasn't my fault. Another time I lost internet due to a storm for couple days and I emialed from work and let them know it was going to be a day or so late. Teachers understood and worked with me. I have also called a few times with questions and have been able to reach some one every time in a timely manner. So far my experiance has been great with Grantham.

When I 1st started Grantham University it was in the beginning of this year (2014) & everything was Okay for my 1st two terms, HOWEVER THIS term has been absolutely HELL and all of it is coming mainly from their Financial Aid department, I completed all of my forms in JULY, was sent an email saying they didn't receive all of my forms ALTHOUGH I did send them, so I sent them again received the same email, So I tried to get in touch with someone at the Financial Aid department it LITERALLY took me an entire month before I could get in touch with someone to explain to me what was going on as to where I stood, the person I spoke with said they had received all of my information and that it should have been processed accordingly, and to bear with them as they switch from an old system to a new one which is probably why I been receiving the emails, since speaking with someone then I have received more then 15x the email stating my files are still not all in, My Financial Aid is not processed, my student account is on hold because of this crazy shenanigans, When I try to call and speak with someone you NEVER get an answer, The phone always says FA Department has HIGH call volume (As If) and eventually if you wait to long on the phone the phone systems automatically kicks you out to leave a voice mail that never gets returned, I got tired of selecting FA Department in the phone system cause it automatically dismisses you that I starting routing my calls to The Student Advising Department, and since its not their department of expertise they really cant help you with anything, I am two months past the allotted time I was suppose to receive my FA Money, I'm failing in all of my courses right now because I don't have books, they are not available for e-download and I cant buy them myself because I don't have a job, I've stated my concerns many times with different individuals that work at that school and obviously they do not care about their student, BUT they will send you an EARLY bill to cover your courses, but will not make sure that you have the funds to cover yourself in your education. FACT OF THE MATTER IS THIS SCHOOL SUCKS STAY VERY VERY VERY VERY VERY FAR AWAY FROM IT IF YOU CONSIDERING TO GO, THEY TREAT YOU LIKE A DOG THAT SHOULD LIVE UNDER A DOG HOUSE SO FOR YOUR OWN GOOD DON'T EVEN MAKE THIS SCHOOL A LAST OPTION!!!!!!

The only complaint I have is the financial aid process. It takes a long time to recieve your refund, and when you call to ask the status of your refund you can never get a straight answer, they make excuses saying they are using a new system for part of your loan and the old system is processing another part of the loan which makes not sense to me whatsoever. With all of the complaints regarding financial aid at Grantham you would think by now they would have it all together. The coursework is okay for the most part, and the instructors are easy to work with. Just please fix your horrible financial aid process and hire people that know how to explain what is really going on.

Ok, I have read the reviews that are posted, and I have to agree with some of them. The good ones that is. Not to say that I haven't had my problems with the university, but that happens in any school. I am in the Army, and they were very adaptive to my needs. I took classes while overseas and had books delivered on time for the most part. If I didn't have a book, my instructors were understanding and allotted more time to complete the coursework. As for if the degree is useful, it is for me. This degree allows me to get my commission and allows me to progress at work. I will be completing my Masters with them. The only issue that I have is when degrees are completed it takes forever to receive your degree or even the transcript. This is not the instructors fault, but the admin office.

I started taking classes 4 Jun 14. On 16 Jun 14, I was awarded the VA 31 benefits so my education would be completely paid for. I tried to call my financial aide officer from 16 Jun 14 to 1 Jul 14 with no avail until 2 Jul to which my financial aide documents had already been processed. I then just told the financial aide office to just disperse my loan as I was never able to talk to someone about cancelling them. It is now 14 Aug My student account has been in the negative(meaning my refund) has been that way since 13 Jul I keep being told 30 days more everytime I ask a question. Due to all of this long waits on phone never talking to anyone my account totally messed up I dropped my second semester on the second day. Now I am being told my account is on hold for refund as they are still reviewing my account as I may owe something.... I have emailed everyone and done everything i can and I am never going back. THIS IS THE WORST SCHOOL. I am now a student at UMUC within the first days of me registering my VA, my books and I was registered for classes in a matter of 5 days. Whenever I call I get an answer within 5 minutes and if I email I get same minute response. I am a veteran and currently work in DoD. I will never recommend this school to anyone.

I have been attending Grantham University since July 2, 2014, the instructors are great. The financial aid office is one big JOKE I have called them and they states that they are missing documents and for me to referee back to goafo. Of course gofao is not telling me anything, called back and then they tell me they can NOT help me I need to call the student loan people myself (which was a lie per student loan officer) I still have an balance when my loan was sent to this school in 8/5/2014. Financial aid has no compassion, no people skills, no nothing just rude and worthless! This is my opinion and no one can change it. I will not be returning as a student next semester.

I started my first class with this school on 6/4/14.The school started received financial aid on 7/7/14 and already my account is paid out. The financial aid award letter that I received said that I would get $6566 for the first term and that I had received a Stafford and Direct loan. When I realized my refund was only $1078 I was puzzled. I contacted my for aid advisor and she said I had only received a Stafford loan for $3248. When I looked at the financial aid receipt of the account receipt the Direct Loan was applied. The financial aid officer said that I was reading into it too much. I asked her if my loan is only for $3248 and my classes cost $2170 how is the refund $1078 she put me on hold for a long time and I guess once she realized that I was going to stay on the phone until i received a believable answer she hung up the phone. I called back to her direct line and no answer. Something isn't and i will get to the bottom of it ASAP!!! Also when i first enrolled as a GRADUATE STUDENT THAT PACKAGED ME AS AN UNDERGRAD AND MY HIGHEST LEVEL OF EDUCATION AS A HIGH SCHOOL DIPLOMA! THAT SHOULD HAVE BEEN A RED FLAG FOR ME!!! NICOLE

The only problem that I have with Grantham University is; Their financial aid office/officers. They tend to lose everything that they submit to them. They continued to tell me that they could not get my high school diploma after several attempts. That was a lie. They never tried. I had it sent to them only minutes after they told me that they could not get it. They also kept requesting for me to complete my fafsa when I had completed it and they already had it. I hate their financial aid department. They are a big joke. As far as their courses, I love it. The classes are very informative and the work load is not as bad as I thought it would be. I have really learned a lot through Grantham.

This school has to be re-evaluated by the Department of Education, the classes are to easy and that doesn't seem right. I've put together work in a matter of 2 hours and low quality work to see if there is any checks and balances; there isn't any, I got an A with no comment on the work! Earning a degree from here will not be respected and employers look down on a degree from this school, as I've gone around asking HR managers and they laughed when I mention the school. I can't transfer none of my credits and lucky I only took two courses here and didn't waste my time. I transferred to an R.A school a respectable school and enjoying the experience. Don't waste your time giving them your money for a degree that is not worth the paper it's printed on.

I've been attending Grantham on and off for the last few years and am in my final class for my BS in Business Administration. The student advisors have always been very helpful and responsive. I always get calls and e-mails from them checking in on me to ensure I have no issues. The courses are very flexible as I learn on my own time at home, work, or anywhere that has an internet connection. As for the accreditation concerns. Is it a nationally accredited college? Yes. Does that mean it is any different from an regionally accredited school? No. Unless you are going to some ivy league school, a degree from a nationally accredited college is just as good as a regionally accredited college. The Department of Education approves of this accreditation and so does the military when applying to become an officer. The only people that cry about accreditation are the ones that have degrees from regionally accredited colleges and realize that they wasted a lot of time and money sitting in a classroom for four years. Grantham has good text materials, online libraries, weekly lectures (Most of my classes have video lectures now), and helpful instructors. As with any college, you get out what you put in. Just like a bricks and mortar college, if you study hard you will get a lot out of it. Military and Work experience transfer. I spent 5 years in the Military and have multiple IT certificates. I chose to go into a different degree than IT and was still given 35 credits towards my degree. This satisfied about 1 years worth of general elective classes. If I would have went towards an IT degree, I would have had about 45 transfer credits. Almost enough for the 60 of an associates degree. I chose to go a different route in case I wanted to get out of IT in the future. Overall my experience with Grantham has been great. I've been able to work full time, have a full time family, and still go to school full time. If you are looking for a school that is flexible, I would recommend Grantham University.

Both of my instructors have been very professional, and when I was receiving lower than expected grades they actually took the time to show me where to improve. As for those who challenge the integrity of this university, the final I took for my first course was video proctored and when I did not show a state ID they emailed me and told me send them a copy of it. So far I have been very impressed with the course of study as well as the university staff. Honestly, I was a little worried about the DETC accreditation, but after talking to several employers they have assured me that it is within standards. This school is everything that you put into it, regardless of graduate or undergraduate degree.

This school is by far the worst school EVER!!! I started classes in Sept 2013.. Was doing great! was very easy to get in and have everything going. Till they got paid.. and then they just didnt care anymore. You cant get ahold of anyone at the school. not even teachers!! or your student advisor!! If you are lucky to speak to someone they are extremly rude!!! I refered my husband and he has had nothing but problems!! the first week of classes he could not get into GLIFE he contacted his advisor and let her know and the teacher the teacher got right back and understood and said that i could submit the work when the site started working. Well they dropped him! Saying he did not preticipate. BS!! He tried too but there system messed up! tried to fight it but didnt get anywere. Then comes the refund. When you call to check on your refund you get nothing but attitude and very un professional people expecially )Christy) In the business office! She was so rude and I could not believe that they let her talk to students the way she does! They lie to you all the time! Never answer your questions and give you the same rehearsed lines over and over again! Then to top it off we use the FB page to communicate with grantham students and try and get help from other students cause we cant get help from gratntham. well after leaving a bad review on their fb page about the school they blocked us!! yup thats right blocked us from being able to comment or message the school on FB!!!!!!! All because I was Bewareing the other students about this school!!! It is a waste of time and money!!!!!

This place is a joke. They only care about taking students $$. There is no real educational value to the degree. Do yourself a favor and avoid Grantham University.

I graduated from Grantham with my MBA in May of 2013. The school has made marked improvement since I started in 2009. I understand the financial aid issue could be a challenge but I am sure this is something they are working on correcting. The school is accredited from the DETC and this is a recognized accrediting body. I never understood why people always look to transfer. Regional schools won't except all credits from other regional schools. I assure you as long as the school is accredited whether Regional or National it is accepted by most employers. I had great instructors in my MBA who all carried a PHD. The school is affordable and for someone like me who works fulltime and has kids it was a perfect fit. I used my G.I. Bill and had no problems. I urge people to evaluate their situations because online schools are designed for self starters who are extremely disciplined. I think this school is great for those who need flexibility. Overall I loved Grantham and I am sorry some posters had a rough time.

No support in this school period! Calling them is wasting your time. Financial Aid department is horrible. Disbursements are stalled and no one tries to help. Now I cant find any school who will accept credits from them. total waste of time.

Let me say that I have to remain anonymous because if they check this and see my name you will be surprised how they retaliate against you, trust me I know and have proof of this. Beware this is not a real school and as a student they will let you know at every step they dont care about you are your issues more than they care about their money. I have gone to a few reputable schools as well as attended a very small and local school and Grantham is byfar the worst at teacher responsiveness, getting their students their financial aid disbursements on time and customer service issues. I can say that the student advisors are for the most really great people and will do all they can to assist and since ive dealt with them they try to go above and beyond what is required and that eases some of the frustration however Its been over a month since I received this grantham educate card which is supposedly a great thing since refunds are supposed to hit the card right away however that too is a scam because it will never hit the card faster as you can have it direct deposited in your personal account in the same amount of time, so this card thing is a total lie and a huge misrepresentation of truth. My student account zeroed out over two weeks ago and Im still awaiting my refund which they claim can come any day now yet the card company doesnt even have my payment file and they claim when they get it that it will take an additional 24-72 hours to receive and not the same day as their website represents. The teachers will not respond back to any email so dont bother and the ones who do are so rude and over the top its ridiculous. Please I humbly beg you future sttudents and fellow Military students look elsewhere for your education I have made a few formal complaints into this univbersity and I plan on making quite a few waves into their business dealings as I have enough students to back my claims up so it is going to be a class action type of thing. Trust me Grantham University regardless to the so called student reviews that say its a good school. tthe actual retain rate and graduation rate is very low do the research and they will try to tell you its the military people who make these rates so low as they are always moving around. I just started my MBA with Grantham and I regret not starting with them sooner. I've read many of the reviews posted and some of the opinions I've come across are misguided. As a Chief Petty Officer in the Navy and a family man, Grantham provides me with everything I need academically. The instructors are legit with remarkable credentials and are as tough if not tougher than what I dealt with at a different institution. I have recommended Grantham to many of my shipmates that are thinking about going back to school.

I transferred to Grantham because I was told over and over that they are Military friendly and would go above and beyond to help those students The classroom was pleasant enough with decent instructors but the financial aid department is a joke. As of today I have waited 78 days for a refund of financial aid money. Everyone I speak with acknowledges that mistakes were made but nobody has the authority to fix it. So I am stuck waiting while they sit back and drag their feet. However, when my GI bill money is sent to the school it is credited immediately.This tells me that the school is much more interested in their bottom line than helping the students. Every job I have ever had has worked under a system where I'd there is a weak link then others step in and pick up the slack This is NOT the case with Grantham. I would not recommend this school to anyone at all.

I am a E9 Information systems Specialist in the United States Navy. I have been taking classes with Grantham since 2006 while in Hawaii, Iraq, on the ship and now on shore duty and all I can say is that I have received great support of this University and my Student Advisor. When I have had a problem my advisor has taken care of it and when he is out and I have spoken with someelse because he was not they helped me right away. I have been around when Grantham's website was not that great, but things have changed and now the website and angle software are great. The instructors have gotten better and more Challenging. The last course I took my instructor(who has a PHD) gave me a 75 on an assignment and held be accountable. My son just graduated from a four year college and could not believe the work that I had to complete online, because it was just as challenging as his was. When he turned in an assignment and he and a few others did way better than the rest of the class the grades were graded on a curb and all the others received a passing grade. No matter where you go, you are going to have the good and the bad. However with anything in life there is ways the good and the bad. I don't know where all the bad experiences are coming from, I have nothing but great things to say about Grantham. I would recommend this school to anyone...I have had a couple of my fellow chiefs who graduated from grantham be very successfull, One is an Information System Program manager making 103,549.00 dollars a year and the other is an Information System Project Manager making 140,000.00 a year...this would not have happened if they had not had 20years of military service and a Master Degree from Grantham University. I enrolled in the MHA Program and found the faculty to be a joke. I have since chosen to leave Grantham. I have been in the workforce 20 years and have several degrees including a masters in Science. My purpose was to gain a better understanding of the business of medicine. I found it lacking and the staff is largely on-line educated themselves and lack any real academic gravitas. My accounting professor has a web site hawking Electrical Inspection books. It was disheartening for someoneto think that they are going to get an education and be so lacking. my intention is not to further my career but merely to add knowledge and this Grantham did not do.

Grantham is a good school, I have invested 2 years of time and money so here is what I think. With the exception of one Professor the Professors are wonderful, helpful and very accommodating. I am very disappointed, in a couple of the classes that I have taken and one professor.(CS192, based on Raptor programming) CS192 Does not have a text book and just access to power-points, I took the computer programing course and failed because I did not have a book. I spent over 20 hours a week on the class, the instructor told me I could attend live web cast on Monday nights at 7, I work and have a family. One of the reasons I chose Grantham was because I travel for work and have a family. Most of the time I am in some remote area with limited internet. I would turn in the assignment and get 2 points, then told by the teacher to resubmit the work because, I only grasped part of the assignment. I could not keep up with the work and re-work and asked for an incomplete, only for the teacher to say he offered help and I did not take it. The help he gave made no sense, it was the written code that seemed to be an answer. I wanted to learn what I was suppose to not copy code he gave me. I would have appreciate partial credit and everything I did learned came from a lady on You-tube. Financial aid issues The following is a praise of one young lady Cleniqu and a guy who's name I don't know, they are VERY HELPFUL when you call financial aid, and will go OUT OF THEIR WAY to find the answer to your question or questions. They should make the other people that work in financial aid take a class from them. Grantham DOES NOT report to the Federal Government that you are in school (I found this out the hard way after my Federal loans were placed in collections, I was under the impression that I was under an in school deferment. I was completely wrong and am now waiting on the issue to be resolved so I can buy a home) and they take their time dispersing financial aid. I have attended Arizona State University and never had these issues before. DO NOT expect your funds in a timely manner. Several of the girls in financial aid are rude and sounds annoyed when you call. They said that dismemberment starts on day 31-32 of the semester, yet several other steps have to be completed before your funds can be posted to your account, once the additional steps are completed it takes an additional week for your account to reflect the update. Then she said Grantham has 14 days to release the funds, then mail time. So after it is all said and done it can take over a month to receive your funds after dismemberment.

I got a BS from Rutgers University. Then I made a mistake of going to Grantham for my Master's. Classes are a joke, no lectures, only stupid assignments. My GPA was 3.8 for sub-standard work. Since Grantham isn't regionally accredited, I'll go for a second Master's from a real college, which Grantham is not. Also, admissions reps lie to students. One of these scam artists told me that there is not need to bring student balance to $0 to get a diploma, only that I won't get a transcript until I'll pay it off. Not true- they will not give you their even useless shit diploma unless you'll pay every penny for the useless education they provide. DON'T GO TO GRANTHAM!!!!!

I love the format this school offers. I attended Brick and Mortar and found Grantham to be equally challenging and relevant. Good instructors and great material.

They claim to be flexible with students in the miltary to complete assignments. I believe their motto is -'college on your terms' or something like that. It turns out that is very untrue. I have had many issues with many instructors as far as their attendance policy and weekly deadlines for handing in assignments. Some classes are very reasonable for an online school as far as the work goes but then others are overkill and leave you wondering how the heck you can possibly get all that work done plus the work for your other class plus your job and home life. It can be unfair and difficult. I have complained numerous times and have been met with a response that I can always take and incomplete. Ridiculous! Total false advertising to me. I can't transfer out either. Their credits don't transfer. So I am stuck. I wouldn't recommend this school if you have a challenging work schedule.

I didn't plan on giving this school such high marks, but based on the ranking areas, I had to. I previously attended a traditional college for my graduate degree, but felt like I was not getting much out of it. Having taken many years off from school and thinking I would never return, along came Grantham. I was extremely skeptical, especially after watching my wife struggle through the technology portion of online courses with her brick and mortar school. I have no struggles. The coursework is much more difficult than my previous studies, but I could work at my pace. My pace is much faster than the course schedule. The tests are open book, but one took me 6 hours to complete. Don't tell me it was easy. I don't want to hear it. Same books, same material as with other schools. Not sure why some give it bad marks.

If it has worth to anyone, from my experience at Grantham, I will try to speak to some of the complaints seen in these reviews posts. I attended Grantham University for a year while I was on active duty. It was a college recommended by the education office on the military installation. When I first enrolled in courses with Grantham in 2002, the curriculum had much to be desired. They were issuing softbound course documents, which seemed to be published by the university. In 2007, a few years after I retired from the military, I resumed my classes and Grantham had just reconstituted in Kansas City after being leveled in Louisiana by hurricane Katrina. Curriculum and Faculty integrity The degree programs and course material had been completely overhauled. They use the same texts and curriculum that you’ll find in any higher education school. The classes require weekly student interactive posts on course aligned subjects, and depending on the course, there are chapter assignments, research to perform, questions to address, and papers to write. I saw one student who plagiarized some web content and submitted it as his discussion post. The instructor handled it discreetly, but I saw that he had to resubmit the post and his grade was severely impacted by his poor judgment. There are open book tests at GU, but for most of my courses, the homework and research papers carried the most weight in the grade-book. As I recall, the cumulative test scores were usually less than 15% of the overall grade. The quality of instructors is what you’d find in any college. In my case, I Googled them and checked their backgrounds on LinkedIn. In many cases, I found them to be MS and PhD educators in their subject field for many years. Some were industry practitioners in the discipline they were instructing. I also found some to have published works. As for the GU system being “setup to pass everyone”; NOT TRUE. I received an “F” in a precalc course that was completely my fault. It remains on my transcript. Administration This review forum is chocked with people who had administrative problems. I don’t doubt them, but my experiences are completely opposite of theirs. I had nothing but professionalism with Grantham; from the initial admissions contact (Victor), to the student progress reps (Lauren, Kami), the finance dept (Carlotta), VA support (David), and on to graduation help (Gina). Accreditation Currently accredited nationally with DETC, Grantham has some in-work goals for accreditation, and they are not done growing. Their video recording of testing has launched and this should help with student test integrity. As for the worth of the Grantham degree, those that belittle it as “only the federal govt will recognize”. I don’t agree, my company uses it when competing for contracts to indicate the level of professionals they bring to the program. It’s on my resume, and my company pays me on a bachelors degree scale for it. For anyone intending on transferring credits to another school, always do your research. Be aware that any school you transfer to will require a certain amount of credits be taken at their school so not everything can transfer. I am in the process of obtaining my MBA here at Grantham. I have already received my Associates and Bachelors here as well. Since I started the school has made significant strides to make the experience even more meaningful. I hate that people complain about support. This is an online school that offers more support than I got at Walden. They are accredited and I am happy with the school and the progress they are making I hope to complete my MBA by April of 2012 and I am grateful to even have the opportunity since Brick and Mortar schools don't fit my lifestyle. I think for the working parent this school is a formidable option.

Grantham University has made drastic improvements over the past few years. I started at AMU on-line and feel Grantham offers equal or better classes. They are nationally accredited and I hope they get the regional nod soon. Most employers really don't distinguish between the two as long as they are accredited by a formally accrediting body. All my instructors have been PhD's in the MBA program and they grade strict but fair. Plagiarism is not exclusive to on-line schools and happens in almost every institution. I feel Grantham is improving greatly and they offer a good value for the self starter that is looking to expand their educational goals. Many of the complaints you read are unilateral with all on-line schools. If you have the discipline and time management skills the on-line school offers the best option for you.

I am currently enrolled in two classes at Granthum. I was enrolled with American Military University previously and made the MISTAKE of switching schools and enrolling at Granthum. My experience at Granthum is awful compared to that of AMU. Plagiarism is going on and unchallenged in my programming essentials class. I have checked the comments of one of the fellow students in that class by copying and pasting his comments and then doing a search in Google. I get EXACT hits on his comments, word for word from other sources. All he is doing is copying and pasting. He continues to do this, so I am sure he is getting good grades. Meanwhile, I give honest input in my discussions. This devalues my honest work. Also, the instructors give "canned" comment replies with giving no thought about the work you've turned in. The "class room" is more difficult to navigate than any class I've ever taken at AMU. Lastly, my civilian employer informed me that they would not honor the National Accreditation that GU has. So, I am heading back to AMU as soon as possible. Do yourself a favor. Look into AMU or another regionally accredited school... and one that only accepts honest, original assignment submissions!

Grantham University offers significant value for the money. I have read all the reviews and I am writing this based on my experience with Grantham as oppose to other online schools and brick and mortar schools I have attended. I am in my MBA with Grantham and have attended Walden and St.Leo's for a few terms. The DETC accreditation is generally accepted by most employers. The regional vs. national is strictly a ego thing between schools. The instructors I have had are all Doctors and have been extremely strict with the grading. I also read the concerns about plagiarism with assignments and this is a legitimate argument. The fact remains ,cheating occurs everywhere and is not exclusive to only online degrees. I have worked in business for the better part of ten years and could tell you for certain my company which is fortune 500 has accepted and supported my Grantham Degree path. The degree is really scrutinized when you are young and entering the workforce to help add value in place of inexperience. Grantham has applied for regional accreditation review and I am certain they will get it. The work is challenging and the instructors carry very impressive credentials. I also realize people have had mixed opinions on Grantham. If you really do the research you will see similar complaints with all on-line schools. I am not writing this to bolster Grantham’s image by any stretch. The purpose of online education is to better yourself while maintaining a fulltime job, raising a family, and living the adult life. The online experience is what you make of it plain and simple. If you are not a disciplined person you may want to attend a regular college. I noticed many complaints that seemed more vengeful than constructive. The school has always been upfront with me and never set untruthful expectations. In my view he MBA program has really challenged my mind and has kept me extremely engaged. I have six classes left and I am proud to have earned a degree regardless of what the school name is. The end game is betterment of one self and this should be the real motivation. Grantham continues to improve and I think if you do enough research you will see that all online schools have a similar feel and flavor. In my final thought a degree mill is a place you pay a fee without doing any work and receive a phony degree. I assure you Grantham is far from a degree Mill. If you look on CHEA and DETC site they are considered a legitimate higher education provider. I wish school was as simple as paying $120 to receive a fake diploma but then everyone would be doing that. I am extremely satisfied with the level of education I have received thus far and would recommend Grantham to those who need the flexibility and affordability this school provides.

As far as I am concerned, Grantham University is a great school and a wonderful value. Not everyone can afford to go to Harvard or Yale! Also I just wanted to throw my 2 cents in on this issue about DETC Accreditaion. The HETA agreement has resulted in over 200 regionally accredited colleges and universities that will accept DETC accredited institutions' credits for transfer and their bachelors degrees as a basis for enrolling for masters degree programs. If any of these institutions will not accept Grantham's credits, then it would be strictly because they do not believe Grantham's Academics are up to par in spite of their DETC accreditation. HETA removes the national vs. regional barriers of credit and degree transfer, but the schools are free to reject credits for other reasons. I graduated from a DETC accredited college and I am eligible for Master's degree programs at so many Regionally Accredited schools that I'm having a hard time deciding. I sent transcripts to Capella, St. Leo, and University of Northern Alabama (all regionally accredited schools) and have been accepted for all three. Now I just have to pick one. The only reason I'm not mentioning my school by name is because I don't want to drag it's name into this rip-off discussion. I'm not rebutting the assertion that Grantham's Credits are "worthless," but I definitely have to point out that DETC accredited institution's degrees are not worthless as a whole. All U.S. federal government jobs are open to DETC accredited degreeholders and all Florida state jobs are open to degree holders from institutions accredited by nationaly accredited (like DETC) institutions. From what I can tell this is true of most other states as well. I am sorry that Louisiana requires a regionally accredited degree for state jobs. If that is true, then they are out of step with the rest of the country, but then that is generally true of anything in Louisiana because of the French legal/political/social traditions there. My best friend lived ouside of New Orleans for 3 years, 20 years ago, and he claims it was like living in another country. I guess I'd better add that when I said "all" federal and Florida state jobs above, that excludes some professions like medicine, law, and engineering that have to have seperate accreditation from a professional association. Almost all professional associations, will only accredit regionally accredited institutions. So in closing, I don't think you necessarily made a mistake going to a DETC accredited school, the mistake may have just been in choosing Grantham. I grant you that you could have gone to any regionlly accredited school and had much less problem transferring though. If you go to a DETC accredited school you have to have a plan for your future education and make sure that the DETC accredited school fits into the plan. There are a ton of lazy people working at this school. I had numerous issues that had to be resolved because the school has sub-adequate staffing. First off, finance department is horrible at assisting with any student loan requests. I applied for a student loan (approved with an e0000) well before my classes started and now have to pay for the classes weeks after the end or risk reprucussions. Second, I had to appeal my final class due to the instructor posting the wrong grade. Has taken weeks to get fixed and it is still pending. Overall this is a horrible school. Do yourself a favor and go somewhere else!

I have completed my MBA with Gramtham but have found that only the federal government will recognize this degree. My undergrad was from a real university and was much more difficult to complete. The system at this school is set up to pass everyone. The idea of being spoon fed everything with open book tests works in the military but not in the real world. I would suggest passing on this school and going somewhere with real standards for graduation. I would never hire a Grantham graduate if that was their only post secondary education.

To all those who say that GU has failed them and is not a good place to attent, that is you opinion. Opionions are like friends, well all have them. In my opinion, I think that GU has been the best thing for those who are soldiers and do not have the time or Money to attend a Major University. They Have been there for me every step of the way. I have had some challenging classes and tough instructors who are either Chief of Police to Lawyers. From day one, my stundent progress Rep and has been in constant contact with me the whole way through. I am near completion of My BA in criminal Justice with only 5 classes to go. It is what it is. The University ir recognized, so what's the problem people. Find what works for you and stick with it. If GU is not for you, move on and kick rocks. Bashing GU for what they have done to you, seems like a personal problem. If you donthave nothing nice to say don't say nothing at all. I have encouraged all my friends and co-workers that are not in school to attend GU for the simple fact that they are great for the hectic hussle and bussle of a soldiers life. As a soldier I am grateful for GU giving me the opportunity to further my education goals. Thanks GU.

Well i was enrolled there for a bit, then I stopped because I wanted to enroll in Local College for automotive So when I asked for Grantham University to send my transcript to the local college they refused because I still owed money. They refused to work with me even when I offered to pay most of it upfront, and then pay rest monthly once I got my GI Bill rolling. They didn't care, they basically told me balance has to be 0. All they cared about was getting their money.

O.k., so I am currently enrolled at Grantham University. Like every university, it has its good and bad points. I have attended a total of 6 (Yes 6!) colleges over the past 8 years of my military service. I guess I am a positive person, because I found each to be a unique experience. I'm not sure that an online situation is right for everyone. I'm not saying that at all. My brother graduated high school this spring and I pushed him to a traditional community college. If you wonder why, it simply has to do with maturity. At 18, he just isn't disciplined enough to succeed in an online environment. For me, I am 33 and capable of sticking to my goals. I plan the work and then work the plan! Got that attitude in Army. We getter done. For me Grantham has been a blessing. They accepted a lot of my transfer credits (The one's related to my degree focus) And as long as you do your work on time and don't make excuses, they are pretty cool about everything. When you are deployed, they work with you on extensions. Little hard to turn in daily homework or comment on blog posts when you are in a battle theater. So it has taken me a little longer than I initially planned, but should be on course to graduate early 2013. Has it been easy? No. Has it been worth it? Yes. I plan to stay in the service and use my degree in a Green to Gold Officer program. I'm just trying to be encouraging for others who might be considering Grantham U or any other solid online school as an alternative to completing your degree. Just do it. The investment you make in your education is worth while. And if you are in the service, Military Tuition is a great cost reducer. Use it while you can.

Grantham University really has become a great University. I see some of the former instructors concerns about plagiarism and this is a valid issue. The truth is my friend attends Rutgers and told me is fraternity has files full of papers they use to cheat. The cheater is only cheeping their own experience. The school offers plenty of challenging classes and the instructors all have respectable credentials. I started my schooling at St. Leo's which was good but Grantham is just as hard. I no they applied for Regional accreditation and I hope they get it. This school has improved dramatically since I started and I feel they should be looked at more seriously. Many of the arguments against them seem common place with all other on-line Universities. These degrees require discipline and self motivation and that is based on individual choice.

I completely agree with the former instructor's post. I too am a former instructor for Grantham University and quit for the same reasons stated. Plagiarism is a constant issue. You can fill out the academic dishonestly form 1000 times and it won't make a bit of difference. Students are given absolutely no sanctions for copying and pasting directly from the Internet. They know this and many take advantage of it. Grantham does not go by any of the policies they have laid out (as the previous poster mentioned). Over the 3 years I worked there, 100% of the time (this is no exaggeration) if a student appealed a failing grade, administration changed the grade to an incomplete and gave them another 30-60 days to complete it. If they didn't complete it then, they gave them another incomplete period. Basically, no matter what junk a student submitting, you were expected to pass them. They use an antiquated version of Angel and the curriculum comes directly from whatever text book they choose. If you point out an error in the course (which there are many because they are written by non academic staff they have in house) they say it's locked down and they can't change it (even if it is completely wrong, a spelling error etc.). Administration gives absolutely no support to the instructors. You are expected to not make waves and pass everyone. From a student perspective, if you are looking for a really easy way to earn a nationally accredited degree to help you move into Officer's training in the military, then I would jump on this. It is my understanding that the military will accept these 'degrees' and it truly does not get any easier than this! I could have stayed on and collected checks for awhile longer but my conscious just wouldn't let me do it. This is not a dig against nationally accredited schools. There are some out there that do a good job on the curriculum and students do earn their degrees, Grantham just isn't one of them!

Grantham University is what you make of it. I have received my Associates and Bachelors at this school and currently am enrolled in my MBA. The school has improved dramatically in all areas since I started. They are for profit but so what. The value is reasonable and the classes are plenty challenging. I was happy to see they are under review for regional accreditation. This will help them in all areas. Grantham is a good school for the military and the working individual. The instructors all have impressive credentials and offer great guidance when you need them. The individuals that complain about lectures are better served in a brick and mortar setting.

Grantham University has all of the makings of a solid online school. However, this is a for-profit institution, and they are set on making sure students stay enrolled. As a former instructor, I was continuously battling with having proper student policies followed, versus the administration wanting students to get a "pass." Instances of academic dishonesty went unpunished, as it was more important to keep students enrolled and paying than it was to maintain a high standard of the student body. While many of the instructors were highly qualified and educated, much of the administration received their degrees through online, for-profit institutions, and this cheapens any work that Grantham could ever hope to accomplish. My advice is to avoid this at all cost. For the price, attend a reputable community college or online program (with a solid bricks and mortar basis). Otherwise, you will end up with an expensive piece of paper from Grantham that will not open any doors to your career goals.

I started with Grantham University a little over two years ago. Here's my run down. I was in the Army for 7 Years and with my AARTS they transferred 16 credits. I have received my Associate of Science in Electronics and Computer Engineering Technology with Honors because I worked hard for it. English was brutal, General Chemistry was tough and Pre-Calculus was a mind-bender. But most of the teacher's helped me when I asked. Some teachers even had a SKYPE™ account to work with me. I'm now re-enrolled in a Bachelor's Degree program for Electronics Engineering Technology. Each Teacher is different. Some go out of their way to help you and some do the minimum...THE SAME THING AT A BRICK AND MORTAR SCHOOL. How do I know, my wife attended an actual college and the teachers were different for each class too. Some classes are easy and some are challenging...well duh, I may know more about one subject (easy) and less about another (challenging). The entire idea behind getting a degree in the first place is not to say you can remember everything you learned in two or four years, but that you studied it and meet the requirements to work in the field or know how to find the answers needed to work that field. That's why you don't sell your textbooks. You may need to reference them in the future. The price is right for me and fits my budget since it is covered by the GIBILL. My student advisor is AWESOME. She calls me all the time and helps me whenever I need it. I work in the Engineering field already and my employer recognizes the degree. Granted it's not ABET accredited but my paycheck increased and it is recognized by some pretty big named companies in engineering. As far as the AARTS, they will transfer based on what the AARTS suggests. It is not absolute. They look at your experience and stuff to see how to properly transfer the credits. I would not transfer all the credits both if you haven’t touched an electronic course since AIT and you just retired from being staff oriented for the last 12 years. You can request an unofficial AARTS copy for yourself and ask why some may not have transferred. I receive real text books that ARE used in other big name universities...I looked. Not many online degrees offer lectures. The idea for online degrees are to not sit in lectures to learn but to learn at your own pace, which could be faster. Of course you have a minimum learning pace. The Terms are perfect with the amount of time needed for the school to assess if you understand the course. And don't think big name colleges or universities don't have multiple choice tests--LOL, they do. I know someone who went to a big name school and they grade the class on a curve, which means if the majority of the class passes, so do you. How fair is that? Grantham grades you on you, not a curve. All in all, Grantham worked for me. I suggest it to my friends all the time and I have seen many success stories. Maybe some people just have bad luck or a crappy advisor...you can always request a different advisor. This is not a diploma mill either, by any means....I earned my degree through some late nights and little sleep. I think with Grantham, you get out of it what you put into it. I’m a proud Grantham Alumni and will continue to better my education through them. And FYI, Grantham is A+ with the BBB.

To all of you that are complaining about the credits not transferring: that is your fault, for having not done YOUR research prior to enrollment. If you just blindly signed into this, then you have no one to blame but yourself (or your base college office rep, as they are to help you with that if you are in the military). True, they do switch up student advisors entirely too often, but that is my only complaint. I signed up with this school for 2 reasons - the cost is extremely cheap (relatively speaking) and the military recognizes it for going officer. I knew going into it that no one else would accept the credits, but Im not looking for a masters degree...I only want whats required to go officer. To date, I have completed my associates, and I only have 2 classes remaing for my bachelors....putting in officer's package in 2 months! I would highly recommend this school to anyone in the military, seeking out their bachelors. The teachers are all more than willing to work with us, as they understand we have extremely unusual schedules and time can be very limited with training and deployments.

I completed my MBA at Grantham last year. It took me two and a half years of hard work. Online schools are no joke. Grantham is known for being a military friendly school but anyone can attend, even non-military like myself. I would recommend Grantham to anyone looking at online schools.

Any issue I have had with Grantham were resolved in less than a week.My education counselor keeps in contact with me by phone or email.They have the same criminal justice curriculum as other schools with a greater reputation.I found the classes challenging. The tests were not always multiple choice and many of them were short answer K essays. My wife attended the school also and had no complaints.She attended university of phoenix( prior to her enrollment in Grantham)which has no empathy and a 44% retention rate.Grantham only caters to the military and their spouses.My instructors were always available and always offered contact numbers if I did not understand the course work. Therer were tests ,essays and posts due midterms and finals.I remember having 8 page assignments lol in ENG 101 and 102. It takes a different type of discipline to go to school online.Alot of the research and understanding is solely on you.They are very understanding and compassionate.They gave extensions when I needed and always worked with me .I will have all of the course work completed by the 27th of this month and an Associates Degree in Criminal Justice.

I started at Grantham in 2007, and iitially wasn't very impressed. The courses seemed too easy, and without due dates for many assignments I had no real guidance, just a textbook and a list of assignments to email to an instructor. The website was not easy to navigate back then either. BUT.....After taking a break for a military deployment, I returned to taking online courses at Grantham and Completed my AS in Computer Science. The website has improved so much! And as for the usefulness of a Grantham degree, after being jobless for almost 2 years, that degree got me a job almost immediately. I decided to continue at Grantham in pursuit of my BS, and I can honestly say that every course I have since taken has had a reliable, knowledgeable instructor who grades quickly and is easy to reach to answer questions. My only complaint is in student-student interactions. Many courses require the use of a discussion board where you post your thoughts on a question and respond to 2 other sudents' posts. I find that MANY students simply reply "nice post!" or "I agree" in order to get credit for "responding". Sometimes I miss the real conversation and debate that occurs in a classroom setting. It can also be hard to sort through the spelling and grammar errors of other students. I have sometimes wondered how some of my classmates even graduated high school...but that is no different than I felt in my time at a traditional university and in the military.

I recently completed my second to the last class and now all I have to complete is my Cap Stone Project for my MBA. Most of my instructors were very easy to get ahold of and the two that I called were quick to get back to me. I have to give a 10 to my advisor. She was great and kept me focused throughout my degree program. She helped me when I needed it the most. I have attended several colleges and Universities and only once before had I felt like I had someone that cared about my success as much as she did. I’m proud to say I studied and worked very hard to achieve my 3.9 GPA but, like most things you are only going to get out of it what you put into it. I could have skated by and still graduated with a 3.6 but it’s more than a GPA it’s the value of education I wanted, not just the degree. I would recommend this University to anyone. I wish it offered a DBA.

I like my business courses at Grantham. The instructors have been very good to work with each term. The flexibility Grantham offers is what I need. I truly believe you will get out of the degree (or each class) what you put in the class. The support I have received has always been great.

I recently received by Bachelors at Grantham. Overall I have been impressed with the school. Now I know there is a issue with accreditation among a lot of folks. Nationally vs regionally does not make a difference from a workforce standpoint.Its an individual/business bias. Actually very few employers even ask about accreditation. If and when a company/business does a degree audit it will still show its accreditation by the Department of Education. Most employers don't know the difference anyway and neither is better than the other. Only area it might affect you is transfer of credits going from a Associates to a Bachelors to a Masters. But its no difference going from one regionally accredited school to another. Ask me how I know. They will not accept all transfer credits either. But for those that plan to go to a regionally accredited from a nationally accredited there are a number of schools out there that will transfer over credits with ease from nationally accredited colleges. For those getting teaching degree's or other specialized degree's I would recommend you stick with RA. Most of them will not accept a NA as it stands right now. Currently there is a national body at the federal level that is trying to level the field and have all colleges and universities that accredited at both the NA and RA levels make it easier on the student in credit transfer.But keep in mind schools whether RA or NA are going to try and get as much money out of you as they can. Doesn't take PhD to figure that out. Do your research on both accreditation. Go to the Department of Educations website. It has all the info you need on the subject. Don't take my word or anyone else word read it for yourself. Then make your choice from there. I'm finishing up my MS in Information Management-Project Management at Grantham. And oh by the way my degree from Grantham so far is netting me a 6 figure income.

This school is a joke because they have received their money to pay their salaries from my financial aid loan but will not refund me my credit from my financial aid loan. Every time I call, I get told a different story or promise. I only work part-time and go to school the other time so I have expenses!! Not sure if I want to continue going here if this is the way they do their business! On a positive note, the classes are great and the instructor is too. I've only taken one graduate class at Grantham but, not sure if they want me to continue.

I see some comment on here that leave me a little confused. I see one comment complaining about not getting lectures? It's online, not Haravard,you are given material and the course is designed to basically be self taught and self led with additional help with from the instuctor and classmates.Then I see complaint about not being able to get get support and have called them over and over.I personally think the support is awesome,both times I enrolled(because I took an extended break) I was walked step by step.I had two people call me from their house, on there off day to ensure I was being taken care of AND one of them had to let me go during a tornado.I don't know how better that gets.I have been to 2 other name brand online colleges, which I will not mention their name, and it was not the best experience.I have had nothing but positive experience here. The classrooms <virtual> are pretty organized and you can even turn on PDA mode which makes it render easier on mobile devices. As far as technology, I think it is up to par with the other two name brand schools I attended. I was a little disappointed with one of my courses, the book was slightly outdated BUT the certain technology is relatively new and the changes that were implimented aren't a big enough differenced to make a fuss about. With a cheat sheet you can see the updates to it and fill in the blanks which honestly is pretty much the way technology goes anyway.That is why I waited until I was closer to retirement to do this degree so I was a little more up to speed when I get out. As far as value goes, I think it's a great value. The other two schools i mententioned I attended nickeled and dimed me to death. They wanted a fee for almost everything so even after the high cost of tuition was paid I still had to come out of pocket for more stuff and with this school even the books are included in the tuition. They are real books also, not e-books like I got before with other schools. So all in al this school has been pretty good to me and if you are looking at going to an online school I would suggest this one. If you want to sit through boring lectures that have been told over and over again go find a brick and mortar school.

I know it's "online" and all... But the whole class was nothing more than a garden variety textbook and a list of assignments. My thought was "Ok, is it that hard to put up some video lectures or something? I don't need to pay a thousand dollars to sit and read a textbook!" I would say save your money and go to the library. This school is a really poor value.

I completed 3 classes in 8 weeks with Grantham and had no problems what-so-ever. I am not sure where all the negative feedback is coming from. Every time I needed to get a hold of my adviser, it was usually within a day that he returned my emails. The instructors were accessible view email at all times. The classes were pretty easy but challenging enough to keep my interest. I would be continuing on but with a problem with one of my past colleges, I would be placed on academic hold if I tried to enroll again. My problem, not Grantham's. For the price that they charge per CR HR, you can't got wrong. I did a lot of researching of online colleges and Grantham is probably one of the less expensive colleges available. The others that are pretty close in price are AIU, CTU and CIU. I will be going to CIU because the programs there are pretty close to Grantham's. Plus the price is better.

Lets be honest... Grantham University is an online university. It is not going to be neccessarily easy nor are you going to receive "lectures". It's ONLINE. Do you really expect an online institution to give you lectures? In my experience so far I have received weekly guidelines of what is expected to be done and what I need to submit. Following the guideline I have so far done quite well -- I have a high A in all my courses. Although I do have a secret... I ask the teachers questions and I don't put it off until the last day. I can't speak for other peoples teacher encounters but for me I have always received an answer within the 48 hour window I am afforded. (read the policy -- they MUST reply within 48 hours) So to the dissenters I ask -- what are you expecting? There aren't any lectures and you alone are responsible for your learning. If you can't teach yourself you shouldn't be taking online courses.

I attended this university for a week. I will give a quick rundown of the admissions part and what didn't sit right with me. First of all I had to start a week later than was planned because I could never get a hold of my admissions rep (I would call every day). I did get a hold of her the day before I was going to start classes and she didn't want to cram so she postponed my date for a week later. Once I started I was told that none of my previous college, military, training, or certificates were going to transfer over towards my degree. Seems a little fishy to me when the university that I went to after dropping Grantham transferred 42 credits. Seems like Grantham wants to con you into taking more courses with them so they can rake in the money. Also a friend of mine that I know goes to Grantham, they told him that he was going to have credits that will transfer. The credits that they transferred didn't even go towards his degree! They just sit there in a bucket not being used, just another example of Grantham wanting money. I won't say what university I ended up going to because I don't want to sound like I am trying to sell something here. I did call/email/chat with around 20 different online universities before I made my mind up and I am so happy where I am at now. Great military reps etc... Do your research and choose what your gut tells you.

I have recently completed my MBA with Grantham and wanted to give my honest assessment of the experience. I have found that some instructors are better than others, while the contact with some was easy while others was like pulling teeth. Based on my undergrad experience at a traditional university the same could be said about their faculty as well. My SPR was excellent, could not have been better. I did notice that sometimes the instuctor would issue an A for an assignment even if it was not of the highest caliber. There were times that I was rushed and did not do well but still recieved an A which should have been a B or C. I must say there seems to be some grade inflation. In the discussion forums it seemed like a lot of the students were late in submitting assignments, typical student stuff. The program is what you make it to be, one could skate by and graduate but if you applied yourself then it was very useful.

Grantham was great.I had one year of college left in a BS in CS and finished it with Grantham. The people who complain about Grantham seem very immature and want to be spoon fed. I have been taking Grantham 3 years and I have never ever had an issue with them. Trust me doing programming and Data Structures and Physics with online is tough but Grantham teachers and staff made my journey great. Thank God for Grantham. My next job promotion was because the job requires a BSCS and I had only a 2 year from a 2 year college. I learned more with Grantham that with my 2 year college. I found out what I can really do if I put my mind and heart to it. Grantham or any school is what you make. Grantham Rocks! I got this IT Manager promotion in part due to my BSCS degree. Oh yeah. And those of you who talk bad about Grantham grow up. I doubt very much you could make it in any school. Really. I have watching Grantham for 25 years when I was in the USAF and after many years of doubt I jump in and found out Grantham is improving itself every day. And there new Angel software kicks but. For me this has been a wonderful experience. the academic advisors email throughout the course making sure you don't need anything and when you do they will always get back to you with an answer. Not all my teachers have been stellar but for the most part they give you assistance when needed and if you are going to be late on a assignment then they ususally grant you extensions no questions asked. Right now I am finishing my degree in CJ and I wwill continue my masters through this University. Those that have problems here are probably impatient and just negative all around. things are going to go wrong but if you know how to ask for help it is there for you.

Since graduation in 2007, I have been on a fast track to complete my MBA and now on track for Doctorate degree. I am a current academic aministrator, college professor and mult-business owner. Ask yourself this question. "Why am I here, what do I plan to accomplish?" This school is dedicated to providing you with the foundational material and skills to prepare any individual for success in the future. Do not be the barrier to your own success. Create opportunities if current ones do not exist. We live in a unique world where we have choices; we do not have to take a job or stay in one location, discover what you like and find an opportunity to complete your next objective in life. There is no hand holding at this school, so if you keep your expectations at a minimum it isn't too bad. It is up to you to follow up, and schedule your classes carefully. Each course has a strict timeline of 8 weeks. For some classes this is not bad, but for the precalculus and calculus classes it was brutal. There are many complaints regarding the difficulties in transferring credit to other institutions. Having researched transferring to different schools, I would like to post what I found. Generally, some credits would transfer. I found that for similar courses of study, other colleges had slightly different class names. Since the classes were not one for one, less credit would transfer. Transferring to another school would also had required me to take more elective classes. Most colleges require that a certain number of credits be completed at their institution as a requirement for graduation. Most schools have placement exams, and if the courses have been completed then a CLEP or similar would be the most effective way to transfer. For the difference in cost of tuition and books, it isn't a bad trade up. It is best to stay with one school, if possible, because it will result in the quickest route to a degree. While much is learned while going to school, the purpose of going to school is to establish the knowledge that provides the skillset to be able to research a problem and provide an effective solution. The research that is done, over time, provides experience, and is what most employers ultimately want.

I can't say enough bad things about this school. It has been nothing but problems. When you farm out your curriculum, and have teachers that aren't PhDs, you never know what you're going to get. Very unsatisfied. If I had to do it over, I would have gone to a real school.

I am severely dissappointed. When I first started I took 35 credit hours straight with no problems, because I knew the material and teaching me wasn't necessary. then I started the signal and system theory course. All of this course was new and foreign to me and I recieved no help and have failed the course twice, there is no examples that even closely resemble the test questions, the labs are utterly confusion with no examples, the homework is left to google.com and no one will help me anywhere. Sux all around, I am attending this fall to South Alabama, what a waste of time this school has been.

I enrolled in this school with the advice of a friend, I started my Major In BA, but switched to CJ, simply because I needed my degree for promotion reasons. From the day I switched it was nothing but problems, the student rteps dont return your phone call or email even though I have been in the school of almost a year and send them my records they claimed they did not have it, Very few of my prior credits were evaluated even though they were from a regionally acredited school, think they want you to take more of their classes. I felt like I was a piece of meat the only time I heard from my student rep was when she neded me to sign up for a new class from the day I enrolled in the class i never heard from her again. I recently had to call and ask that she be changed as my rep because she has failed me in every endeavor, from the computer scholarship program, enrolling in classes, getting my transcrips and processing my enrollment. I sined up for a class a mont prior to the start date, I am deployed so I thought being proactive I will sign up and have my books on time, worng! she sent me an email one day prior to the start date " sorry your class was not processed in the system even though E,ARMYU had it processed, she was just too dran lazy to take care of my enrollment before the start date. I can write a thesis on Grantham, they boast to be military friendly, NOT! ALL THEY CARE IS THAT THEY GET THEIR MONEY, I am stuck I am so far along that it would be stupid to change schools, maybe I am just unlucky with the great reviews I see posted here. My soldiers always ask me what is the best school i tell them dont touch Grantham with a 10 foot pole.

I have two degrees from Grantham. Associates in Business Administration and Bachelors in Multidiciplinary Studies. I am currently enrolled in the Masters program. I have taken brick and motor classes, Grantham gives a different experience than other traditional colleges, but it is a good value. I would rather pay $250 per credit hr than $641 per credit hr and all books and materials were included. I even received a free laptop from them. If you are using TA or GI bill this is perfect. I have no debt at all. I have had my issues with the school, but its what you take from your experience that is the true value. Things I did not enjoy were the changing of Student progress reps, Book shipments and some of the instructors not grading in timely fashion. These are things that can hinder you at any institution. I feel that it was all worth it. Regionally acredited colleges and nationally acredited colleges have one difference, Regional schools are Non Profit. This is what you are paying for. UOP use to be for profit and no one would accept their credits either. Now that they are Non Profit, they are treated like the best school ever. This is just an excuse to charge more for the same education. As long as you have official Transcripts from and accredited College, you will get a good job.

I am retired military and also work as a government civilian on a military installation. I completed my bachelor's degree as well as my Master's degree at Grantham. ALL of my transcripts have been entered as official documents into my civilian personnel record and are deemed accredited for purposes of career advancement.

I was attending University of Grantham when I was granted a special waiver to retire versus forced to PCS to another base in a few months. Due to all the planning to retire (outprocessing, job & house hunting, finding a suitable stateside college for my kid, etc.) I asked permission from my Student Progress Pepresentative for an "exception to policy" with additional 15 days to finish my final course. A dean from another department contacted me and said he saw no reason to approve my request. He stated that he knew full well that retiring from overseas took alot of time, he in fact, did the same thing recently, but I knew my plans ahead of time and had enough time to complete my courses (the other course taken during the semester was finished). When I looked up this Dean's name, found out that he didn't even retire from uniformed service overseas, was a high ranking civil service employee from the education section of the U.S. Air Force. I had all A's, except one "B", now with a "F". I keep getting contacted by Grantham University offering to "help me" to re-enroll to finish my degree, Fat Chance...

This college has let me down. Starting my first lab with them i found out 3 weeks into the course that i had the wrong version of there computer lab. So i got the right one ordered. It was back logged it took another 6 weeks to get. After starting the lab over i received zero help from my instructor. I requested 8 times to drop this course. Which they did not do. Then i got an letter from the Navy wanted me to pay for my class that i failed. How could this be i had requested to be withdrawn. bottom line was that i was over the time limit to get it withdrawn. I contacted Gratham and explained the whole situation. They finally paid the Navy for the course. But low and behold they still posted an F for the course. Now i can not take any courses using TA because i have a GPA below 2.0. Thanks Grantham for nothing. Not only can i not take any classes from you i can't take any courses from anyone else using TA.

I just recently completed my fourth class toward my MBA. I'd have to say I'm pleased with how everything is progressing at this point. Early on there were some issues with student reps changing but I have now had a great student rep for the last couple of classes who keeps in touch on a regular basis. Earning an MBA for me with give me personal satisfaction and hopefully more opportunities. I enjoy online learning using their G-Life platform. At the end of the day I don't know that I'll be competing against MBA's from Harvard or Yale but if I am I'd feel good about my chances as much of it is personality based anyway. I looked at other schools like University of Phoenix, Capella and for the price I am able to maximize my tuition reimbursement. Grantham is one of about four online schools that my company reccomends and I work for a Fortune 300 company who would not align themselves with just anyone.

I am very pleased with my experience. I have 3 classes remaining to finish my BSEET. I have been accepted into a regionally accredited and ABET accredited university for a Masters program in System Engineering. College is what you make of it. If you choose to learn, then you will. Conversely, if you try and cheat your way through, that will be evident in a job interview. Although, in Engineering classes, I don't see how you could cheat. I would say that if you are not strong in math don't attempt Calculus and Physics online.
