I can see that some have had their share of problems. I cannot say the same .In fact I would highly recommend the university. The professors have been very supportive. Most have given out their cell numbers so that they can be reached immediately in case of a problem or question. The masters program has been a great experience for me. I have had no problems at all getting my degree recognized. The university is RA. Why should there be any problem at all with transferring? RUN TO GCU! You will love it!

I had over 20 years of experience in teaching before going back for my master's degree. I did a lot of research into various masters of education programs that would fit my schedule. GCU unlike many other online programs is a B & M university. The online programs started decades after the university was established in 1949. The program was excellent although I had some minor issues with the technology. I would describe the workload as 'heavy' taking between 20-25 hours per week. You can expect about 100 pages of reading in textbooks (not counting additional journal articles) along with a paper (10 pages) every week. In addition, you can expect to write a weekly log entry 1-2 pages. A great experience overall!

GCU is top notch. The master's program is very demanding and, as we can see, a number of individuals do drop out. Only the most committed and hard working got through my program. Your entire focus for two years will be this program. It is well worth it. Completing my master's degree has opened many doors of opportunity. I HIGHLY recommend this university!

This is a great program and a wonderful university!!!! The professors are great and they fully support their students. The great reviews that you read are from students that have experienced success at GCU. As with any university there will be those that succeed and those that fail. You will note that almost every single negative review is from those that have not succeeded. That is human nature. Please keep that in mind when reading all of these reviews. That having been said, you will note that 70% of all reviews for GCU are very positive with about another 10% that are neutral. I recommend that you do your own research and DO NOT BELIEVE the haters. For them it is all about 'Sour Grapes'.

With working a full time job and raising my family, I felt I could trust the kind and gentle Christian man who came to my home school (I am a teacher) and convinced me to attend a University with ethics, morals, and values similar to mine. I would be able to do all of the work online (not loose time with my family having to attend classes away from the home) and I would qualify for grants and my Masters degree would cost a fraction of the full tuition. I have never been more wrong about something in my life. I have never been allowed to accept or reject student loans prior to receiving a check (when they do finally show up), nor did I recieve the full amounts of grant money I was told I would definitely receive because I work with socio-economically disadvantaged children in a high needs field. I have received a few scholarships (one was just for enrolling) and the latest one being offered to me is for $666 (Yes, that is right! From a Christian college). We are eight weeks into our current semester and because they switched to a new and improved system, they have to input over 10,000 student's financial aid manually and they are unable to process federal funds in a timely fashion. I was told this was being done alphabetically. So,someone whose last name ends with a very late in the alphabet letter may not see their funds before the semester is over. Once your funds are disbursed to your account, the university has fourteen days to issue refunds, however, the last two semesters, I have waited at least another week to ten days to receive a refund check. They hold them even though it appears on paper they have sent the check to you. I cannot prove it, but it appears there is a financial gain being made. Why else would they hold refund checks? Please do not even think about attending this university. They stand behind Christianity, but it appears this is only for the purpose of increasing enrollment through potential students who are trusting Christians.

I was very happy with my degree program at GCU. The professors were very insightful and the office staff very helpful. I did have some difficulties in the beginning with an award letter and you do get put on hold now and again. My question is where does that not happen? I have completed a graduate program at a traditional B & M state university in California and I was put on hold much more frequently than at GCU. Is it perfect? No. There are some minor problems but the trade-off is a great program in education along with great professors and a caring office staff. The pros far outweigh the cons.

I completed my Masters in May of 2009 and would recommend this university to anyone who is serious about learning. I did not want to get a graduate degree simply for the increase in pay. My desire was to gain knowledge in order to be the best reading teacher I could be. Taking the online courses from GCU was one of the most rewarding and challenging experiences of my professional life. Before committing to any new experience, you should familiarize yourself with all of important information. By carefully reading and abiding by the academic and financial expectations provided by GCU, you will set yourself up for success. The course work is very demanding and will require you to invest a considerable amount of time to it. I found that, with the exception of one, the course facilitators were very knowledgeable, accessible, reasonable, and willing to help students understand the subject matter and the course assignments. I am HIGHLY impressed with this university!
