I don't like how nobody knows when your financially is coming they give you a dummy date that's on your award letter but it never comes on that day, you call the school nobody knows like you can't plan anything. On top on that they send your financial aid award to a 3rd party who can't tell you anything about your award either you just completely in the dark.

I really don't like this school when it comes to your financial aid the dispurments just come you can't plan anything and school can't or won't tell you any pacifics.

As a veteran focusing on completing a degree, CTU worked with me to review and apply credits for military experience and previous education. The cost has to be weighed with the reward. I was fortunate enough to have many decent instructors, but also had a few who were not really committed for one reason or another. The level of education you receive depends on the effort that you put into the program. If you read the books and learn the material, you will be better off. If you do the bare minimum, you don't gain as much as you could. I think the per credit cost was higher than it needed to be, but since graduating in 2011, the fact that I have the degree has been extremely valuable for me.

I completed my B.S. in Information Technology here. The flexibility of the schedule enabled me to work full-time as a software developer while earning my degree through courses taken remotely at nights. After completing my degree here I went on and received my M.S. in Systems Engineering/Computer Science from Loyola Marymount. Today I am the Director of Engineering for a company which I love working for. I will always to be a major proponent of schools like CTU that enable students who need flexibility in their schedule to have a place to learn. With all of this said, I believe the students who tend to be most successful at CTU are no different from the students who are successful at any other school. Please be prepared to work very hard and don't expect any hand-holding. If you can do these two things you'll do great anywhere. If you can complete your coursework at CTU with 3.6 GPA or above your life is going to great. Best of luck to anyone reading this.

read a lot of the negative reviews before I started but one of the best ones was the person who said you have to be very proactive so I followed that advice. I graduated with my cyber-security degree bachelor's in 11 months I took advantage of the Fast Trax and the prior learning and I have maintained a 4.0. I graduate in 5 and 1/2 weeks then I start my masters in cybersecurity of which I plan to do the same thing and start the doctoral advantage after 3 courses. Many people complain that they don't understand the accounting it's pretty simple $325 a credit and every 3 months $125 technology fee. For all the prior learning assessment narrative that I submitted that I gained course credit for I wasn't charged a dime. And they have already given me credit for $2,000 grant for my Master's for lifelong learning. I will say my student advisor was useless but I managed to after many emails to multiple departments till I drove them crazy LOL found two amazing advisor in the prior learning Department. I did have a problem with my funds because I did a course overload of which was approved but through my whole account into a weird balance but they fixed it quickly. If you need to drop a course and trust me I dropped and added courses every term you just need to know you need to do it within one week of the term starting I believe, after that time they tell you in the documentation that they send you what's the criteria is so you just need to be proactive and smart. Prior to making my decision to attend CTU I had read a lot of negative reviews on consumer affairs and here.. in fact I sent a very strongly worded email to about five or six people and the admissions director called me and we spoke about the negative reviews and I told them that I do understand that out of every person they work with the chances of getting a negative review are much higher than somebody writing a positive review. People who are happy usually don't take the time to write something up people who are pissed off do. So I told him I understood that but I wanted some assurances and then I told him that they need to have a moderator on all these type of sites to address the issues and concerns of the negative reviewers to help those who had a bad experience and they have since done that. My initial estimation of my bachelor's with 60k but I managed to do it with only 15 so don't be helpless don't complain don't expect somebody to hold your hand through it this is a college for adults who have been in the business world and you know how to get stuff done. If you haven't been in the business world and don't know how to be proactive and don't understand that even though you're in college you're not going to get your handheld if you want that you should go to a brick-and-mortar school.

I have 11 classes left to finish my bachelors in information technology for networking. I have enjoyed every bit of the classes and the wealth of information the professors are able to contribute. I was hesitant going back to school, especially online but it has been great. I am able to go at my own pace which is great. To anyone asking themselves if they should pick Colorado Technical University, I say do so and you will be glad that you did.

The CTU online degree program is the best online learning program I have found. The instructors are incredibly helpful and responsive. I learned a lot that I have been able to use at work and have already received a promotion.

So I made a huge mistake with choosing this school, WOW!! First off it's way to expensive for such a poor education, the technology is adequate at best. the Intelipath is a joke, you can go over as many times as you want to better the grade so what do you learn, that you can just redo life, or redo mistakes at work, NO that's not real. The financial aid department is a total joke, everytime you call whomever answers tells you something completely different than before. I've even had one or two say "well I don't know why they told you that because that's not true" I've had my money stole from me, been lied to, and received little to no education. And for those who write in the reviews about the other people who write bad reviews that we just need our hands held, well let me tell you I'm far from needing my hand held. I was returning to school to complete my masters degree while working and what I failed to do is research, If I would have actually read a few of these reviews before I committed it would have saved me the trouble and headache of CTU. If you want some good advice perspective students, LOOK INTO ASPEN UNIVERSITY, IT'S A GREAT SCHOOL, VERY AFFORDABLE, AND THE STUDENT REVIEWS ARE EXCELLENT!!!!

I'm only in my second semester, but as a learner who has struggled with online platforms in the past, I am finding Colorado Technical University Online to be a blessing to me and my pace. I love the one on one with the professors, the camaraderie and connections with peers and the patience achieved through the online platform. I have 13 Fast Track courses that will allow me to graduate early as long as I pass them and my success coach gives me peace of mind in keeping me up to date and making sure I am comfortable with the process. I highly recommend CTU for advanced learning!!

I tried to attend Full Sail University first but was denied over a felony conviction. My ex fiance graduated from CTU so I thought I would try CTU as I familiar with them and have seen a graduate degree first hand. Enrollment was super easy and very straight forward. I passed 5 fast track exams, which saved me 5 1/2 weeks per passed exam, and also saved me $350.00 per credit hour per class. 22.5 credit hours to be exact. Although I was not using VA benefits from previous service duty, they still gave me a 5% military discount off of my total tuition. My teachers have all been polite and help me pretty quickly when needing help or have questions regarding specific tasks and assignments. My financial adviser (April Frazier) has been nothing short of awesome and helpful. The financial aid department does seem to be a little short when talking to them and getting answers, but the site does indeed have a financial aid and accounts tabs where you can directly see whats being billed and when it is being billed. This seems to be updated in real time and seems not to use batch processing. The library and their staff have been awesome, and the Net Tutor for IT students is incredible for help with projects, and they will even review your papers before you turn them in to make sure your covering what needs to be covered for the assignment. This school has gave me every tool I need to succeed. I have seen some really nasty reviews on CTU and I am confident in saying, the people that are complaining probably signed papers with out reading and understanding what they are signing, expected an outrageous amount of stipend loans, did not give the effort in class or assignments, or didn't attend class and then wonder why they got kicked out and owe a balance. I really can not speak on anyone else's behalf but myself have had ZERO problems from CTU Schools, Instructors, Administrators, or Counselors. I would recommend CTU to anyone who is serious about getting a higher education. As far as the bills I see people talking about could be usual, if the student is no longer registered when student loans are requested by the school. There for any accumulated balance can not be paid by student loans, because you are no longer an attending student, there for they can not legally collect loans on your behalf. Thats probably why there is an out standing balance due, and why your getting calls from collectors trying to collect a debt for your actions or lack of.

FINANCIAL AID DEPARTMENT IS THE WORST I HAVE EVER HAD TO DEAL WITH. THEY ACT AS IF YOUR STIPEND MONEY IS THERE PERSONAL MONEY AND WILL NOT RELEASE UNTIL THE VERY LAST MOMENT WHEN THEY NO LONGER CAN HOLD IT LEGALLY. I AM GOING TO FINISH MY DEGREE HERE, BUT WOULD NEVER RECOMMEND THIS PLACE TO ANYONE.

Colorado Technical University is one of the best educational institutes for business administration courses and health care management. I have attended the online campus since 2008 and earned my ASBA - General after falling ill and taking some time off I finally graduated with a 3.93 GPA, Highest Honors and in my BSBA - Health Care Management I graduated with a 4.0 GPA, Summa Cum Laude. I worked harder at earning my degree than I have ever worked in my life. It was not easy since I lack real-world experience. I was challenged by my professors every step of the way. I had a few instructors that I changed due to conflicting personalities or issues with verbal understanding. For the most part my issues were always resolved within 72 hours of asking for help whether it was with a class problem, administrative issue or financial aid. As far as financial aid when I became ill, my husband left me, there was no one to let the staff know I would not be attending classes as I was in the emergency room dying and was not able to contact CTU. However, as soon as I was able they dropped my class and since it was past the deadline of dropping the class I only had to pay for one session not the entire class. I have read some of the comments on here about financial aid and yes because of my lack of understanding I had to pay some out-of-pocket expenses in my associate program but once I learned how financial aid works I never borrowed more than I need and if I do I make sure to keep some of that money to pay for extra tuition or supplies that I may need to finish my degree program. You can also use stipends to pay down your financial aid. I am currently attending CTU to earn my master degree MSHCM-Informatics and hopefully I will graduate with a 4.0 GPA. As with any college course it is necessary to do the research and work hard and follow rules and that is what it takes to keep a job or career in the real world. If you are not willing to put forth the effort you will not gain knowledge or rewards and will not benefit from any college experience. I am a late learner starting my degree shortly before my 48 birthday so it was hard going back to school especially college. I have had bad and good experiences with CTU but only because of my lack of knowledge and professionalism when starting. Since then I have learned that it takes teamwork to finish earning your degree, you have to put in 120% to get or earn a degree and keep up with the trends in any industry that you want to work. If they require a degree and the college of choice does not offer the curriculum it takes to get you where you want to go in your career then you should do research to find the college that best suits your needs and fulfills your desired outcome goals. College tuition at most colleges does not include books, at CTU it does and when I started CTU the tuition was around $225 per quarter hour now it is $325 for associate and bachelor degrees. It is now $585 for my master degree which is $28,080 for tuition and books I have not found a less expensive college yet. CTU offers online class rooms which is required to earn a degree you have to have attended some lectures and other colleges online do not offer that at all they send you a video and you have to email the instructor if you did not understand the lecture which waste valuable time. CTU has an interactive lecture where you can ask questions then and not wait for an answer. I find this a valuable tool for my learning experience since I am a visual learner. There are many valuable tools and resource at CTU that I could mention but all I am able to say is it is your choice and if you want to know more do the research it is your choice.

I graduated in 2010 with a BSBA concentration in Project Management. I was earning ~65k a year at the time as a service technician. I used the degree and my past experience (military 9 years) to secure a new position that I would not have been qualified for without my degree. My income increased 23%. Three years later I was fortunate to have another opportunity to move to a booming biotech and become the energy manager for the company. Again my degree was cited as a prerequisite and the degree I earned at CTU was accepted without any issue. My income increased again by 12.5%. My income has increased significantly since then. I am now enrolled in New York Institute of Technology in their Energy Management MS program. I was accepted into the Environmental Science & Engineering program at Harvard and determined that the cost was too high. They accepted my CTU degree as a proper prerequisite. The success or lack there of regarding those who are complaining or calling this college a scam is not on CTU. It rests squarely on the shoulders of those who are complaining. If you read their complaints closely you will see common indicators such as: "my professors didn't or wouldn't _________(insert excuse here), or I didn't complete because _________(insert excuse), or CTU promised me THEY would get me a job but THEY failed me (of course it has nothing to do with your interviewing skills, unwillingness to relocate, lack of experience in your field, etc.). Is CTU Ohio State or Notre Dame or Princeton or MIT? Uh, no and anyone who thinks that a CTU degree should have the weight of a large/super-well respected household institution is an idiot. Is the degree meaningful and will it meet the requirements of most HR departments? Absolutely. My advice to you who are reading is turn a deaf ear to the whiners or if you are one, stop whining. It's a you problem not a CTU problem. An objective look in the mirror will do wonders for your future.

If anyone out there knows what the word 'altruistic' means, remember that CTU is not altruistic. They are all about the dollar, how much they can get from you. Nothing much else seems to matter.

I have found the teachers, carrier services, and Library very helpful and knowledgeable. I am also excited about having the Doctorate advantage program that gives me a head start on my Doctorate which I will be completing at the school. I do see some negative comments about people not getting jobs and I’m not sure I would blame the University. I have seen some of the below average work from some of the students and I can see why some don’t have jobs. I have found the grading to be fair and equivalent to graduate level work at other schools. Your degree is what you make of it. I would like to see better books in the programs but the Librarians were extremely helpful when I spoke to them and helped with the research, and the same with the career services. I am looking forward to starting my Doctorate.

I attended CTU Online for a Bachelors in Business administration- Project Management. graduated with a 3.43 Am now enrolled in the MBA - Operations and Supply Chain Logistics. I have never worked so hard for a grade i my life. i see alot of reviews where students claim that even the morons get straight A's well i can tell you that if you dont apply yourself and work your butt off, you will NOT get straight A's at CTU I think these people are just not cut out for the literally brutal course schedule and the lack of any kind of a break. Sour Grapes if you ask me. If you are willing to WORK hard, STUDY Hard, and apply yourself, this is a great university to go to. Yeah, sure it is a for profit, private University, but then so is Harvard and Yale and Princeton and Stanford and i dont hear anyone bitching about them.

CTU needs to be investigated for federal loan fraud and theft, in addition to consumer fraud as they advertise one thing and practice the exact opposite. for instance they advertise study and learn at your own pase telling the public come as often or little as you like when in reality if you try to stop classes for any reason they will force you to take that class over giving you zero credit for work completed and rebill the federal government, when this happens they steal your stipend to pay for those classes without your permission or knowledge. these people steal from the disabled students, one example was a student had a major heart failure, ctu refused to release the student from class, and then kept the funding for the unattended student while that person was dying in the hospital, ctu tried to force the student to make the nurse go online for that student while in intensive care really??????? what assholes... then they refused to refund the class and rebilled that student and kept that students stipend really???? is that not against federal law??? in one case the student was rebilled for multiple classes due to serious illness and once again ctu refused to refund and stole money, this is a common practice we have learned by ctu who's aid department need to go to jail. these people are extremely rude they will block every attempt you make to file your complaints, they will block the discussion boards if you post a complaint, they hide financial records from student, they never post stipend dates for students, they lie to students, we have a recording of a ctu financial aid manager telling us our graduation fee is paid in full three weeks later ctu puts a hold on our school transcripts claiming we did not pay the grad fee when we called ctu staff lied to our faces we have the proof recorded a second time. teachers will post crappy grades based on your attitude we have several cases of proof regarding this fact. very few teachers post actual grades you earned. to prove this fact we took several classes and did the required work but never studied a thing basely guessing the answers, we received straight a's for all classes, hummmmmm this is a for profit online school did I mention if you do not uncheck a few hidden clauses in your aid package ctu gets to keep any and all extra funds from the government and CTU forget to mention that fact when they enroll you, an example if you forget to uncheck the box that states your not living on campus ctu will be paid for school housing to the tune of 10,000 bucks or more YOU have to repay the feds???? really but I live at home not ctu why should anyone be forced to pay this other than ctu who basically legally stole money from the feds and YOU. now if you want to transfer out guess again ctu will delay your paperwork for weeks and your transcripts go missing in limbo with a hold for payment on them these people suck bad oh did we mention if you complain so other students can read it ctu will send a academic warning saying basically shut the hell up or else we kick you out this is a fact I can also prove,

Hello, Im attending CTU, I have my ups and downs with this college. But coming from ITT-Tech well we can say i have had a lot of ups and downs. The reason i choosed this school was because it was like one of the only schools to accept my credits from ITT. The classes can be fun, if you joinm the live chats and talk to your teacher and classmates. I really dont read the books they offer. I feel like the classes are not even base off the books. Every class is 5 1/2 weeks long. Teachers, there all different and i have some i like and some i dont. Mostly the reason why I dont like some of the teachers is because they dont want to help you when you have problems. Its a online class, so its not i can grab my things and jump to colorado to get help. But for the most part, most of the teachers works with you and helps you get credit. If they see you on the right path and headed to the right place, they will help you get there. Degree part of this comment. DEGREES are nothing really when it comes to finding a job. Yea people like to work in there field of study. well they probably not a lot of people. A degree just tells the interview you can start something and finsih it. It cost a lot of money, and by the time i graduate from this school, i will be so broke, I will be paying my student loans off tell im dead. I already owe 47,000 dollars. that was attending a 2 year program at ITT-tech and now but not finished CTU. Even tho we are online, we use lot of technology, lot more than ITT and that was hands on. Programming classes has been fun, sql server class hated it, couldnt get the program to work and took me to take the class twice before anything happen. I would say the best thing this program and school, has tought me. Is that you got to GO OUT and FIND THE WORK, the teacher is not going to tell you. RESEARCH and more RESEARCH, GOOGLE IS YOUR FRIEND!!!!!!!!! I seen where a lot of people was like the teachers want help and they just read books on the live chats, bull shit.

My name is Rachel and I am currently a student at CTU. First off they are very helpful in every department. I have never called in and been passed off or ignored. My student adviser contacts me regularly as does admissions officer. I have called financial aid several times and I have always been treated with respect and have been taken seriously at every turn. I think that you really do get what you put in and perhaps if others put as much effort into their own degree and stop expecting to have it done for them, then maybe they would be taken more seriously. We are all grown ups now and need to stand on our own two feet and stop expecting the world to hold our hands and hand us everything we want in life if we throw a hiss fit. GROW UP!!!!!!!! I have found my student experience to be very pleasent and I have no complaints. If CTU was lacking in the beginning, they have worked out all the bugs and are doing well. I have always recieved any help I have asked for. I would recommend this school to others any day of the week, as a matter of fact I did recomnmend it to someone very important to me, my daughter.

I, Trevor S., graduated from Colorado Technical University Online on November 11, 2014. It took me four years from start to finish to get a Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice. My experience was so valuable that I decided to go for the MSCJ and I’m now in my third class that starts on February 15, 2015. I received several job offers from security jobs, but declined them to continue my education without interruption. I honestly feel this is the best way to earn a criminal justice degree if you don’t want to sit in large lecture halls at a traditional university. I originally decided to attend the Colorado Springs campus because it was near where I was living at the time. I realized this was a big mistake because the instructors didn’t ever offer to help struggling students and made them take the class over again. There was zero support in trying to earn a degree at the campus. Several unrelated events lead me to online with CTU because of my terrible experiences at the campus. To this day I would not recommend the campus because they are more interested in taking students money than actual education. I found out the exact opposite was true for Colorado Technical University Online. From the beginning of my online program I was supported by the University. This online based system runs directly out of Illinois, not the Colorado Springs campus. However, degrees are conferred through CTU-Colorado Springs, or another campus closest to where you live and the degree doesn’t say online on it. All instructors give their home phone numbers for students to call and talk to them. Unlike many of the private for-profit institutions in the same bracket as CTU we had at least two live chat sessions a week in every class equivalent to lectures. This is unique because when I was at DeVry University and Argosy University all students had to do was read the textbook and respond to discussion boards. In fact, all of my master’s courses and many of my bachelor’s courses with CTU Online had doctor level instructors teaching the courses. CTU operates under the project learning model, which allows students to do projects instead of taking lengthy unrelated tests weekly like many traditional universities and colleges. The PLM is designed to assimilate students to what it would be like if they were in the working World. Many people feel online education isn’t worth it and may be a scam. For these naysayers I’d like to let them know that unlike traditional schools students are held to stricter standards. I wasn’t allowed to submit an assignment late, without prior approval from the instructor, or I would receive a zero grade. How many ‘research’ universities have this policy in place? Also, I wasn’t allowed to use any non-credible sources, like Wikipedia. Additionally, every assignment is automatically graded for plagiarism this includes any papers downloaded from websites for free or otherwise. It is nearly impossible to cheat, or have someone else do the work for you because of this plagiarism tool. Now that I’m working on my master’s degree with CTU Online I can honestly say this is a good school for anyone that values hard work and dedication to their education. The only problem I see is the cost even though Colorado Technical University has the fairest price for all of their degrees even online. In fact, CTU Online is probably the cheapest undergraduate degree program for the money offered online at just 325 dollars a credit hour. I’m currently taking out student loans for 585 dollars a credit hour for their master’s degree program. Overall, if you haven’t gained a better understanding of Colorado Technical University by reading this review you should have gained that this is a decent institution, education is what you put into it, and what you put into it is what you will gain from any school.

I began my schooling at CTU in the fall of 2011 pursuing a BSIT with 0 knowledge about computers other than how to surf the internet and play games on them. At the time I was making twelve dollars an hour with my employer. A few months into my education I applied for and earned an entry level job in our systems department. Since that time I have received four other promotions, each one due to the education I received from CTUO and the work I put in outside of the normal course work. I am an infrastructure engineer now and my pay has a little more than tripled since 2011 with plenty of room to grow at a Fortune 100 company. Pursuing and obtaining my degree with some hard work has led me to a completely different life. Guess what? I did this at CTUO. I am bothered by all of these bad reviews about the school and staffing. This is not the case from my experience. You will of course have instances where teachers do not communicate as well as expected or have issues with financial aid from time to time, but that happens everywhere. I have attended brick and mortar schools previously including a local community college and IU Bloomington. My experience was no different at CTUO than any of the others. It was kind of a pain to get my financial aid straightened out in the beginning, but once that was taken care of all was well. The hardest part about CTUO and I'm sure a lot of online schools that I think a lot of people don't get, is dedicating the time to not only just complete the assignments for the grade, but to go above and beyond to insure that you learn what you need to and it sticks. In five week courses that, in my experience, change without returning to similar work for months at a time it is difficult to retain everything. There are lab sessions as well as being able to self-study that help with this though. As far as the teachers, they have all been fair and usually respond to any emails within a couple of days and unless they have another live chat to conduct most are willing to stay later to discuss any questions from the lecture. I personally don't know of another online school that even has live chats with the instructors so that is a bonus itself. All of that said, the school IS kind of pricey. Tuition rates went up after my second session to $320/credit hour if I recall correctly. Each class is typically 4 credit hours, so you are looking at almost $1,300 per class. This does include any technology resources that you will need though, like text books (most are indeed e-books), virtual lab sessions (TestOut and JBL for I.T. majors), as well as free Microsoft Office. There is a lot of writing and no real tests for most of the courses. That is a big reason why you the student need to make sure you go above and beyond. Do I think that you could possibly go elsewhere and get a "better" education for the price, yes. By better I simply mean a degree from a more well-established brick and mortar in-state school. However, I guarantee you WILL NOT have the flexibility of online schooling, WILL NOT graduate as fast, WILL NOT get to interact with teachers who actually work in the fields they are teaching and WILL still have bad experiences every now and then. Online schooling is not for everyone and there are cases where you can pass classes and not truly learn anything. That is typically the fault of the student though. I believe these reviews bashing the school and staff are missing part of the story. In the end no one is perfect including CTUO and it's staff and there are always two sides to every story. Take my words for what they are, a simple opinion based on my experiences. Yours could be different. Just know that as with anything you get what you put in. If you put in the work, and not just enough to pass or get an A in the class, but really work, CTUO can work for you. It did for me anyway.

I graduated from CTU Online program Spring of 2014. This my personal experience from them, I started my job as a temporary employee. While attending school I used the knowledge learned to acquire a full time position. Utilizing the skills learned I move from a regular employee to lead and now to assistant division manager. I know from my interviews upper management has stated we see you applying the knowledge that you have learned in school. Suffice to say you will get out of it what you put into it. I read those boring online books and took my assignments seriously. It is hard to imagine that anyone who takes education seriously not think this online school is challenging. I hope my story helps someone who really wants to succeed in life.

I wanted a career working with children at risk and checked into CTU. They did not offer a Social Service classes so they brilliantly sold me a BS in Criminal Justice which I was told by CTU advisors that this degree program would be comparable and completely satisfy SS requirements. The experience as a whole was great due to the friendly teachers although, the financial aid department and other education counselors were not helpful. CTU managed to guide me to a jobless and financially ruined future. I was over the age limit to join the police force where I would have to start - regardless, who would hire a police officer from an online school without any physical training? With the degree there are not other options available. CTU is not necessarily concerned for your future or you as an individual but they are in SALES! They sell you a little tech glam, flash your name on the screen and wish you well in your broken, disappointed and gloom future. Since CTU this degree has ruined my life!

After attending this school for over four years, it became evident that CTU instructors give EVERYONE A's whether they deserve them or not. I worked hard for my grades, but over the years as I spoke to other students I discovered that they all had 4.0 GPAs but could not cite, spell, use proper English, or even knew how to use the CTU library! I quit even trying and still received straight A's. Once I left the school and started attending a REAL college, I was shocked at the difference. Now I am forced to use proper APA, proper English, cite according to the APA Publication Manual (I had never even heard of this book before leaving CTU), and I am given the grade according to my work. Another problem I had with CTU was their horrible Financial Aid Department. Not only did the staff have no idea of what they were doing, CTU stopped giving students any idea of how much their stipends would be, when they would receive them, or correct information on the total student loan debt. I was shocked when I left school and discovered that the amount listed on my student aid page was about HALF of what I actually owed! FA often did not give me my stipends and I had to continually call, only to receive totally incorrect information. You are forced to call every single month just in case CTU "forgot" to give you your stipend. They continually made mistakes, and at one point I was forced to pay a "loan" that the school says I owed because they said they overpaid me. I never did receive proof, and was forced to pay the amount or drop out before graduating. I wish now I had done exactly that. At one point, FA did not request the correct amount from the Dept of Education, and with two weeks to graduation, I was asked to pay an additional $1,000 CASH with no job. I spent a lot of time on the phone to them and was emotionally drained before it was corrected. The school I am attending now told me exactly how much I would receive (per class no less) and exactly when. I receive emails when the money is received from Dept of Education, and when it is available. NO guessing or mistakes!! CTU held on to my money (and making money from it I bet in the form of interest) for far too long, and seldom posted stipends within six weeks or more from when they received it. I still wonder how much of my money they mistakenly kept. If you are serious about your education, I would try another school and compare it to CTU to give you an idea of what each one offers. And I would be careful of your degree, because if CTU keeps giving graduate and undergraduate degrees with students on the Deans List just for showing up, it may no longer be worth the paper it is printed on.

I graduated from CTU in September 2011. I have been unemployed and under employed since. I am now working at Starbucks making $8/hr. CTU made me believe that I was going to get a fabulous job after graduation. REALLY? I was completely unemployed for 2 years. I spent 5-6 hours a day sending out resume's and doing online aps. In the last 3 years I have had 3 serious interviews, none of which landed me a job. They are no help in career planning, guidance or job placement. As far as I am concerned, I paid over $23,000 for a useless piece of paper that I cannot afford to pay back. Had I known it would be this hard or impossible to get a job, I would have gone to a trade school instead. This is HORRIBLE! I no longer believe in the education system in the US, especially higher learning institutions. IF anyone out there has filed or wants to get together to file, a class action lawsuit against them, please send me a reply and we will talk. Sorry to those of you that have decided to attend a college or university. It's worthless!

I graduated here with my associates and yes the credit hours were cheaper..325.00 per credit hour and yes my classes and teachers were great but, this school started lacking the ability to effectively communicate among it's departments. I started talking to people that were abrupt and rude and could care less what the student needed or wanted. I took a Standard Period of Non-enrollment and for those of you who may need this badly be leary very leary if you attend CTU online. I was convinced by my student adviser that I should wait until after my 1402B session to put in for this request and knowing that I should go by what she recommended this is what I did. She failed to let me know that upon my return would be the start of a new academic year. She said that I would take the class I missed on my SPN once I returned. She said I would need to speak with financial aid department to ensure my funding would be okay upon my return. I did this as well and financial aid said my funding would be fine. I noticed on my accounts tab before my return that the financial aid department sent the funding back to the department of education for the class that was already covered and paid for by the department of education that I should have been taking upon my return. They then listed the amounts they sent back to the department of education on my accounts tab as money I needed to pay the school back. This was so wrong and completely out of context. I called for three weeks straight to get the issue fixed and every time talked to someone new and at least every other time someone with an attitude would be on the other end of the phone saying that I was totally incorrect and that I owed them money. I could not take my class that was previously covered because they sent back the funds...and top that off they also charged me for two classes prior that session when I only took one class and yet they did not offer to cover the class I should be taking with that funding either. They had numerous ways they could have helped or fixed my issues and failed at it for three weeks. What they did was charge me for the stipend portion I received on this one class because they sent the money back to the department of education. This was their own error not mine, my academic adviser then convinces me that I should withdraw and she started the process on her own and failed to tell me that after five days the process goes through on it's own. She started ignoring my calls, ignoring my e-mails and finally called me back one time and accused me of not contacting anyone back which was incorrect I had e-mails to prove it. Finally after 3 and a half weeks I requested a higher authority to speak with me that would stay calm, not argue and listen to me. Turns out after all of my calls and being correct every time with what I noticed and that they should not have sent back my funding someone finally sees what I am trying to explain. Sad thing is it this school almost a month to resolve an issue that was their own mistake, they withdrew a student without the students approval and tried to charge a student for their own mistake. I was more than half way through my bachelors degree there and now I am sadly not enrolled by no fault of my own. What school does this to their student. They are suppose to help us get where we dream of, believe in us and do everything possible to keep us in school. What happened to admitting to being wrong, honesty, and integrity I thought this is one of those things these schools live by.

None of the classes in the Bachelor degree program have been easy. All of them requires a lot of hard work so no one can say that online classes are no good. I am scheduled to receive my degree in December 2014. After all of the hard work that I am putting into my studies, I hope it pays off. I would hate to think that I am wasting my time. Overall, this school is no worse than others however; I do have some concerns on the entry requirements as I have encountered a student that write and spell on an elementary level. Based on this experience, it seems that the school will admit anyone for the money. That is not good.

I just graduated from CTU with eMBA degree. Looking back on experience, I would confidently say that if I had to do it again, I would repeat this experience. You might read other people reviews, and some say that they have not learn much, or five week of classes was too short. Let me tell you, this is not easy, do not expect to get degree for just login on to the class portal. For me, I spend on average 25 to 30 hours per week to keep up with assignments and learning. Let’s be honest, as with any graduate studies, you are in charge of your education, the teachers are here to guide you, and answer questions on a material you have a problem with. All my teachers in this program had PhD’s in their related fields. Also most of them currently working in an industry, and not just academia, so there was an additional value for me to see how theory applied to the real life. I never had teacher that would not reply to my email within 24 hours, also they all gave students their phone number in case we need to talk with them on a phone. As far as a cost, I found this school most cost effective. My undergrad degree is in science, so to get MBA, I had to have business prerequisites. To make story short, I had to take four additional labs, which CTU provided for me without additional cost (free). At the end, before you sign up for online, or traditional school, keep in mind, it is a hard work, and most of all it requires a lot of sacrifice and commitment. Unfortunately, no pain no gain.

I attended this school to complete my bachelors in business management. Initially it was incredibly simple and was glad because i was was worried I was going to struggle too much with online schooling. But it never got any more difficult I felt like I was pissing away so much money for a pathetic excuse for an education. What made me more angry was when I spoke with the adviser about joining CTU I specifically said I would need financial aid in order to go if the cost exceeded my financial aid I would not be able to attend he works some numbers and I'm in than without notice the following year they raise tuition without notifying me what so ever and I was forced to drop because I couldn't afford to pay for the classes I already took let alone finish my degree! So now I spent $20k on courses I can't receive credit for until I fork over money I was under teh impression I wasn't going to have to pay through the school! Unbelievable. No one has answers for you ever either so I would stay clear.

I attended this school since 2009 with an Associates Degree in Medical Billing/Coding, what they don't tell you is that after graduating from this class is that you have to get certified in order to get a job, I also continued my education for a Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration, Concentration in Healthcare Management, I was supposed to graduate this March with that Degree, but they didn't tell me that I had 15 student loans out, plus one person told me that I had to fill out a FASFA for 13-14 year when come to find out I didn't have to. Now I have a "supposed" bill from the mess that Financial Aid did to me and they give me excuses as to why I have it, and now their threatening to take it to a collections agency, so I don't recommend going to this school, because no one will talk.

I am currently attending with a 3.84 GPA in the BSIT program and I cannot say I agree w the other reviews. It is truely that you write a lot. But in the big picture, I wrote 10x more at a traditional campus when I attended prior to this. The flexibility is pretty nice, although some instructors do set dumb times for Live Chats or interactive class if you prefer to call them that. The discussion boards are meant for you to look through and gain insight or help your fellow classmates... a key tool in working in the professional IT world. It is aboot interaction not simply knowledge. As for that aspect, I have been enrolled full time for almost one year at CTU and in every IT class I learned something. I have taken advanced placement classes in high school dealing w computers and knew C++, Visual Basic, Java, HTML, and a handful of other languages from these classes. I had above average intricate knowledge of computer hardware and software and yet I still did learn. Most likely the other reviews did not stay in school longer than the 101 classes and could very easily be why they "did not learn". I am not saying the school is the best out there, bit it really osmotic a bad option. You DO solve actual math probs in class too btw... its a tool called Intellipath that they use. Its a major part of your grade also. So idk what bs was being said about it not. Anyway, the classes are riddled with some students who clearly dont care but the key is to not deal with them. It really is a case of you get what you put into it. In a way it is like you are getting guidance by an instructor (most w PhD's and dual degrees) to do the research on your own and learn the lvl of work you put in. So the one review is correct in.a manner of sealing. They are not there to walk you through classes... and being online you obviously signed up to learn in this way so you gain flexibility while still being able to gain an accredited degree. The books have been very good selections and go further in scope than the basics most classes cover. Along with that the interaction of the Virtual Campus is easy and simple to use. All in all, it has to be looked at that there are all different skill levels coming to learn and they cannot swamp the majority bc of a few students being more advanced. In those cases they should b asking for help... my instructor sat on the phone with me for nearly an hour two nights ago to explain and help me gain knowledge on material we were not even going in to yet. I have had quick replies from most instructors and they have all been very nice. One thing I have heard about as a negative had been the financial aid office though. Personally I have had great results talking to them and they have been spot on with every penny I was given. I also signed my loams to not be changed by them. Any dates they have given me have held true. Others mainly complain aboot not getting funds back when THEY expect them and not even talking with a FA supervisor. If the ppl expect $ back fast tho, forget it. With hpw many ppl rip off n stick the Dept of Education w loams and whatnot so they can get stipends fast... it makes it a longer wait each yr for the rest of us. So it is not CTUs fault. You personally control the option of handling your loans... so to those who complain... did you handle them yourselves? If so, there's your problem... bc they cannot change anything n u need to fix it. For those who let them control the loan amts, your problem lies within allowing them to change variables and it leaves you with less in stipends, plus they love to roll money over to further classes. Best thing you can do is not worry about those and focus on schooling if you go to CTU online. You will get what you put into it. They surely do not holda your hand. Hope this helps...

I have completed the Bachelors in Software Engineering which they no longer offer. I have just enrolled in the Masters for Information Security. First off, once they sign you up anything you ask for will be answered with NO! E-books only so good luck if you travel or if you can't stand looking at a computer at work for 8-10 hours then you have to come home and read e-books. They say you can get your own books at your expense. I have never met such an arrogant group as these folks. The president of the school will never answer you, for any reason. The advisors must be the ones who got the 2.0 GPA's The instructors are arrogant and do not answer questions unless they are hard pressed buy the staff. If classes are cancelled because of site issues or whatever the reason, too bad for you. I will be transferring out because this course sucks. They have fallen so far down I can't believe they are still in business. Avoid this college, you have been warned!

I love CTU and I have no complaints! Of course there were instructors that weren't so good, but others were great! That is the case with pretty much any organization. I don't know what the problem is with people leaving horrible reviews for this school! I will graduate from CTU in January with a 3.93 GPA and you best believe that I worked very hard for it! EVERY school, whether online or brick and mortar, has its pros and cons! There are good instructors as well as bad ones and there will be some who succeed and some who don't! You will get out of CTU just what you put into it as with ANY college.

Don't let anyone fool you about the quality of the education. This school is listed by the Department of Defense and NSA as a Center of Academic Excellence(http://www.nsa.gov/ia/academic_outreach/nat_cae/institutions.shtml#co) and has an award winning virtual campus. You won't get that from a school that earns no respect from prospective employers. I am not attending the school, but the cost of the online programs are really not that bad at all, especially when you consider that the cost of books is included in the tuition. I don't know what price you are expecting for a degree that will get you a good job, but considering the cream of the crop cost over 200 more per credit hour, you'll see that you are overreacting. I am looking at online Masters programs, and this is probably the cheapest I've seen of all the other CoAs so far. Don't get me wrong, there are plenty of degrees that aren't worth the paper they are printed on. If you are in one of those fields, DON'T go to college. You will only add debt when you don't gain anything from completing the degree. Take this advice: 1. Do a job search on monster.com for the types of jobs your degree will get you. If most say a degree is required, GET ONE. If not, DON'T. 2. Do your research. Don't let a school tell you how wonderful they are, and also take the advice of another user that said non-profit is the way to go, most of the time. This school is for profit, but it is worth more than people on here seem to believe. It's not their fault if you choose a degree with no future. 3. If you don't know what you want to do, make sure you are at least in a school that has a program that truly interests you. No job pays you enough if you aren't doing something you actually WANT to be doing. Have a direction to go, at the very least, just don't get too far in if you're heading towards a dead end. 4. Ignore the riff-raff that you absolutely MUST graduate from college, unless you have a career path that requires one, as I said in the first point. There are too many jobs out there that honestly do not require one, and you should not waste your time and money on a degree you have no aspirations to make use of. According to salary.com, these are the top 8 degrees not worth the cost of attaining them: 1. Methodology. Why would anyone want one? Seriously? 2. Sociology. It just won't pay you enough money to waste time and money in school for it. 3. Fine Arts. Again, why? Does anyone look at your degree when you paint? The best artists didn't learn it. They had an inherent skill. 4. Religion. Again, really? What good will it do you? If you want to spend money just to learn about religion, have at it. But you won't pay off your debt in this lifetime with that line of work. 5. Hospitality. Is this anything you really need to attend college to know how to do? 6. Nutrition. Waste. Of. Money. 7. Psychology. Best be prepared to get a doctorate if you want to earn real money. 8. Communications. Uh...yea. The bottom line is not all careers are worth the cost of obtaining a degree. There are jobs that don't require anything beyond a diploma. So why waste time and money? The people who criticize this school most seem to all be taking degrees that really won't get them anywhere in life. So I can't say I blame them for feeling it's a waste of money. But that is not the school's fault. It is their own fault for pursuing degrees that aren't going to get them a return on investment. That is why I ensured my career goal has a minimum starting wage in six figures. If your career choice won't make you over 60k, be sure you don't spend too much on that degree.

I you read the review by Mikepettinato he essentially sums up the entire experience at CTU Online. I have spent the last 3+ years there finishing my BSBA in IT and I am just finishing. Honestly I only went to the school originally to get that piece of worthless paper nothing more. While I found a few great instructors most of them are horrible teachers. Many of the teachers are PH D level who seem to think they are better than the rest of us and never really teach or offer help. Like Mike said in his review they simply read a script and rarely respond to email. Some of the foreign national teachers, while being PH D's, communicate and speak horribly and really make the classes difficult. I am not at all trying to be racist here they simply speak very poorly and this will frustrate anyone paying big money for an education. Many of these teachers hold outside jobs so perhaps that is why their teaching ability is incredibly poor. Having a PH D really means nothing more than having someone over scrutinize you because they spent the last 6 or so years going through agony and want to hand that down to you. As Mike also said the discussion boards are completely useless and a waste of time. All you will be doing is cranking out paper after paper after paper and the monotony will kill you as it did me. Student interaction is weak at best and it seems that many students have a very low writing and grammar level. I'm not sure why that is but it becomes clear after a few classes. The group projects, which they enacted in 2012, are the saddest attempt yet at getting online students working together. It is so pathetically laughable that I cringe whenever an instructor mentions a group project in the class. The live chats are also a joke. As I mentioned instructors read off their mandatory 1 hour script to meet their quota and that's about it. Asking questions and extending their hour usually gets you pushed off to "please email me" and the typical runaround. I'm not sure what these instructors make but my guess is that it's not enough or it's way too much. I'd hate to think we pay these PH D idiots that have no teaching ability big money because they have the piece of paper. Honestly the whole college system really is a joke but that's a whole other story. Lastly, CTU is a business and their tactics are completely marketing oriented. They are pushy and want to get you started right away with little information. Can you blame them? No but honestly if you were all about students this process would be a lot different. The money machine that is CTU also keeps upping tuition costs every year. Where is that money going? You begin to wonder after a while. Most of the college is run by call centers too. Another testament to the money machine mentality. As noted in other posts here that financial aid is definitely pushy and will purposely misinform you in order to keep the money flowing. Don't let them bully you if you do go here and demand whatever it is that you need and never listen to their b.s. about how you are putting a big dent in your education. Again more scripting here. An additional note is books. Everything is ebook based and they are only accessible via Words of Wisdom's website. I cannot stand electronic books and these things are so locked down you cannot export them to anything like a kindle or ebook reader and you are on your own if you want the physical copy. Be prepared to spend more money. In closing if I could do it over again I would steer far, far away from CTU. The greed that is hidden below the surface and extremely subpar learning environment is nothing short of dismal. I will give CTU one gold star however. The fact that they do live chats is the biggest thing they do that many other schools never did. This may be changing but it is what drove me here in the first place. Regardless they have so much work to do to improve that it is futile to consider attending here. My advice is to do your research and only seek CTU as a last resort. If you want to actually learn there are institutions out there that actually know how to teach. Your local community college will give you a higher quality education than the CTU money machine.

I have been a Doctoral Candidate here for a while, only a handful of their teachers are worthwhile. Most of their instructors are CTU Doctoral grads (someone I know said that they hire their own graduates, becuase their grads can't get teaching jobs anywhere else). Each time I have asked about flexibility on their part so that I, as a student could have some consideration for life's emergencies, or things that one cannot control, THEIR POLICY, or THE WAY THEY DO THINGS is what is most important to them. All of their paper submission deadlines are midnight central time, no matter where you are in the world. So you are a slave to an arbitrary midnight deadline that has nothing to do with local time. DON'T GO TO CTU. Their management cares only about themselves. If they cared about offering an education, they'd be fair and logical. They are neither. They are NOT worth the ground they walk on . . .

Back in July of 2012, I completed my Associates in Health Administration Services and yesterday, turned in my last assignment for my Bachelors in Healthcare Management. I admit, I have had my fair share of issues with CTU staff and administration. The Financial Aid Department was less than helpful on more than one occasion and some classes were staffed with a professor that did not like giving you full credit. Every single assignment I turned in had at least 2 points taken off, even when I corrected things for the next assignment. I guess students are not allowed to excel at this school as much as they claim they want us to. I am not discouraging individuals from this school. However, I am telling you all that, as proud of I am of this degree, you must be careful with the professors that are teaching you and if given the opportunity, talk to fellow students and read teacher reviews so that you are not stuck with one that will not help you. Now that I am finished with my degree, they call me at least twice a day to try and get me to continue to my Master's. I have told them on at least 20 different occasions to stop calling, that for the moment, I am done, but they will not listen. They also told me I only have 6 months to decide if I am going to continue, whatever that means. Be cautious when attending here because many times, it starts out problem free and once your in, the challenges begin. I have read many reviews about the type of learning offered, but I have to disagree. You are taking an online degree program to fit your schedule and make it easier on your family/work responsibilities. You are suppose to participate and engage. You may be getting A's while not doing so, but your learning experience will be sub-par, compared to mine. You are paying for the expediting of courses and learning the information differently. If that is not what you want, then attend a campus class.

This program does not meet expectations. The support from the overall staff is lackadaisical. They were supposed to send me a grade report for my first two classes and the staff said that I should have been provided a form at my start of the program. They never provided the form to me four months ago. The teachers are the best thing about the Doctoral program. They said that their classes would be available for a year online after students finish the program. They closed my access to the first two installments that I took only days after I finished them, so that I am unable to go back an refer to the work that I did, and the discussions that I posted. The online tool is the worst thing that I have ever seen. It is about as non-functional as any piece of software that I have ever used. Even DOS 2.0 is more user-friendly than their online class software. I highly recommend that if you are considering CTU for a Doctorate that you only use that school as a last, I mean absolute last choice. I abhor this school, and am only going to continue because I am committed at this point.

I completed my BSBA in June 2012. CTU is a low to medium quality school. I say low because many professors practically give you the answer when pressed. This as you know will not benefit any student. Medium because there are several professors that will not give you an easy pass. I can proudly say that I truly earned my degree. I researched, studied, and read all assignments and submitted college level work. A professor for my Business Law class actually believed I was a practicing attorney, how I don't know. I'm mean here I am earning my bachelor's and he's thinking I'm an attorney. Go figure. The school cost is outrageous for the quality of instructors and the value of the degree earned. While I can appreciate the work they put into the Virtual Campus and hiring 'some' quality instructors, they have A LOT of room for improvement. Although I feel I truly accomplished something earning my degree, it's what employers think that really matters. And sadly, for the time being, employers will not take you serious if you earned a degree from a mediocre school like CTU or even UOP or any other for-profit, highly advertised school which has recently seen legal problems with stiffing students for their financial aid. Not to mention hounding students until they sign-up and are able to squeeze as much FA from them. Don't misinterpret my comments. A lot can be learned if you truly apply yourself but at this point in time, a CTU degree is not really respected when all of these items are put together. A student would be better off going to another more reputable school that employers are likely to respect much more.

I have an Associate Degree in Accounting from a local Community College. CTU gave me credit for these transfers with no problem. I am now on my 4th and 5th class and so far the experience and classes have been great. I love that by next August I will be done with my bachelors. It is an accredited school. Many have said that it is not but do some more research or check with FAFSA. They will confirm.

Do not request info. They will mercilessly hound with phone calls and leave long, completely silent voicemails for months on end. When you ask to be put on a do not call list, they will rudely hang up on you and keep calling you. Very unprofessional, which is why I did not choose them.

I started my journey with CTUO back in 2004. I had taken a few classes with Columbia Southern University when I found it it was not a regionally accredited school. I contacted CTUO based on some advice I had received from the Captain I was working for at the time. He went to school at CTUO when he was enlisted and after completing his degree he applied for his commission. If the Air Force accepts a degree from CTUO for officers to be commissioned then it must be a good school. I contaced an advisor and she had me have all of my transcripts sent in and to my surprise they accepted many of the courses and life experience credits I sent in. I was in the Air Force before and had 3 different career fields. I ended up only needing 20 classes to complete my degree program. I expected the classes to be easy but they were not. Columbia Southern had multiple choice tests that were open book. CTUO classes are project based learning and you must complete 10-12 assignments per course. These can be anything from papers to Powerpoint projects. Of course if you are taking 2 courses per term, which most people do, you are going to be knocking out 20-24 assignments in a 5 week period. I went TDY to another location during my 5th and 6th classes and even though I sent an email to my advisor explaining I needed to drop the courses they kept me enrolled. After 4 months I went back and found out they had given me failing grades in those courses for 3 straight terms and I had been dismissed from school. I was disgusted and decided to just quit. Last year (May 2012) during my review my boss asked me how close I was to completing a degree and I explained what had happened. He told me to just email them and fix it. He then told me they were looking at me for a promotion but the job they had in mind required me to have a degree. So, I called my advisor and explained the situation. She said she would try to fix the situation. About a week later I recieved an email saying I was going to be allowed back into the program and I actually only needed to take 14 more classes. So I go back into the program. Here I sit, a little over a month away from graduation, thinking about what to do next. I recieved the promotion my boss told me about because of the progress I have made in the past year. They know I will be graduating in May and decided to promote me early. I have decided that I will continue my education and begin the MBA program as soon as I finish the BSBA. I believe people think they are going to be given a degree for only a small amount of work and this is not the case. I have busted my butt over the last year to get this program finished and I am proud to say I did it at CTUO. It was the best option for me and I got a promotion and a 20% raise out of it. Even though I had a bad experience at first I won't allow that to determine what I think about CTU. It has been a gateway to greatness for me!!! Roy G

I started at Colorado Technical University Online in 2010 with the goal of completing my B.S. in Information Technology with a concentration in Security. I went full time while working full time as a Govt contractor. I was pleased with how this school provided course material and instruction. Most books are mailed to you and arrive in time for every class. Some books are E-books that you have to print out yourself if you want a hard copy, which I was not as impressed. The cost of this school was outrageous to the education I feel that I received. However, I was using the post 9/11 G.I. bill so I did not have an issue with payments. The school does take care of military quite well when it comes to financing. I only had some issues during the first week of trying to get my federal military aid through the school, after that the next three years I never had an issue. If you had to pay for this school out of pocket, I will have to say you can probably find a better education for your buck elsewhere. Also, I found that this school was outstanding for the working student. All required assignments were quite easy, however, the learning materials the school offers besides books allowed for intense learning if you wanted to go into depth with your classes. So overall, if you have any grants, military aid or any other way to pay for this school than out of pocket and you are working; this is the school for you!

I just completed my first (and last class) with CTU. Do yourself a favor and find another school...any other school. I transferred from another school thinking it would be better. Wow, was I wrong! I went right back to my old school who would not take these credits. It started with getting false information from their online chat. I went ahead and enrolled even though my wife said this was the wrong school and a mistake. I totally should have listened to her. I took Operations Management. Now the instructor was very nice and there was a lot of information. Unfortunately it was way too much information for a six week course. The instruction was OK. One thing to note is that even though they say the books are free, the only books were delivered online for the duration of the course. The school doesn't give two flips about the student once they are enrolled...unless it is time to get you into a new class. They totally screwed up my GI Bill so now I get to pay this out of pocket. The tuition is way too expensive for what you get. The school is second rate at best.

Online sucks no support. They said they mailed out my books and software then when i didnt recieve it i told them n they sent it again but charged me twice for it. I only went for 3 months and when i told them to take me out because i kept failing because there was no support or help when it was needed. They left me in for a good nother month. Then i got the bill and while trying to track down what all the. Charges are for i got transferred round and round and then they garnished my tax return. If you are thinkin of goin here i would try my absolute hardest to find somewhere else cuz this is just barely a school

I know few people who attend this online school. Papers submitted is middle school writing and do a lot of cutting and pasting from other writers ideas. Information submitted and returned with an A....This is why I can never attend this school. Because these individuals are not being challenged in college..wait til they get to the working world. Some people just want an easy out. CTU offer just that.Plagarism is a fedral offense and they are not citing the students that I know that attend this school for such offenses.

The whole financial aid department is incompetent. CTU is only after your money. I dropped out after taking a few classes after I found out they were charging me for my classes after they explained to me over and over again that I had financial aid that was going to cover my expenses. They are trying to charge me over 6,000 for 3 ridiculous classes that I took. I had just became debt free before applying for this school! And now I am over 6,000 in debt now! Stay far away from this school and make sure you get everything they say in writing because they are all liars!!!!

For a school with many physical campuses and an online campus, you get more than you pay for with CTU-online. I was skeptical in the beginning as many of you are while reading this. I will say one thing: If you do not learn well on your own, online schooling is NOT for you. CTU is one of the best online institutions I have had experience with. In addition to interactive instructors (9/10 of the time, there is always one....) and an excellent learning lab, the administration in general was beyond helpful, there are live chats that are archived for later viewing, they are military friendly, and the virtual campus is easy to navigate. There were issues with grades and finances, but that is to be expected when you have thousands of students, thousands of miles away. Nobody is going to spoon feed you education, you have to be actively monitoring your progress, like an adult should. Everything was fixed before my graduation and I have zero complaints. My overall experience was excellent.

Colorado Technical University Online (CTUO) is not a school for everyone. The courses used to vary from 11 weeks to 5 weeks but I guess they decided that they were not pumping enough students through the system. All courses are now 5 weeks long. There are some good instructors, that is, instructors that want to help you learn but for the most part instructors are low quality and do not help at all. I have had some instructors that barely speak English. The books are mostly e-books that you cannot take with you when you leave. You cannot download them, save them or put them to disk, but you can print them, one chapter at a time. What complicates learning is that most of the time the e-books have little or nothing to do with the course being taught. In this school you get out of the school what you put into it. They might as well call this the self-taught school because that is what it is. You do have grades handed out by the instructor who may dock you points for no other reason than he/she can. I once ran into an instructor who told me that students attending online classes did not deserve a 100% because they did not learn as much as a brick and mortar classroom student did. I believe him now. After two years my money and time have been wasted. I have had employers laugh at me when produce my degree from CTUO. Financial aid is another joke. I do not think even they know what stipends or disbursements you are going to get. I even think that they get points for getting you off the phone by telling you that your money will be in tomorrow. The whole financial aid department is incompetent with exception of one person I talked to a year in a half ago. Speaking of incompetent so is CTUO entire IT department. CTUO has discussion boards and back in 2010 they worked great then they had the 2011 spring update. Discussion board was unable to carry the original format. In other words I spent hours working on a paper making it neat and tidy with 0.5” borders, APA format, double space, and indent first line of paragraph. When I posted to the discussion board it came out with no boarders, single spaced and random enters sometimes five words then enter, and sometimes 10 words then enter. IT said it wasn’t their problem must be my computer. So I spent days figuring out it was not my problem even worked with Microsoft. IT said not their problem discussion boards worked fine. SIX months later they admitted it was a problem in the meantime all the students were getting docked 10 points per assignment for not submitting in APA format. I would go and spend an hour reworking my assignment on the discussion board so that it looked like I had originally written it. CTUO is a horrible place to get your degree from. It takes hours of research to research the subject matter and even longer to put it in a cohesive document. Be prepared to be congratulated on one hand for going above the required word count and punished with a low grade on the other for exceeding the expectations of the assignment.

If you read the other review by Mikepettinato, then you got all the information you need to know, but I know how I am with reviews (one alone does not mean much) so I thought I would share mine here also. I gave a 3.93 GPA, have been going to CTU for over and year and have learned NOTHING. I truly do not understand how anyone can fail at this school or get anything less than an A because of the way the courses are set up. Not only are they all exactly the same, which I would not hate if it involved learning valuable information, but most instructors just give you the answers for the first few weeks! I guess now that I say that I can see how someone could fail because being given the answers for three weeks then being sent out on your own can be a disaster, but almost everything is on Google, right? I know I get a better education from Google! And do not expect any attention or cohesion among the staff. Everyone will tell you something different, no one will be right until the one who gives you the bad news and good luck getting someone to care once you are enrolled. Expect your tuition to go up at the drop of a hat and teachers that talk more about the pet sitting on their lap than the stuff you are trying to learn. And most of all, look forward to the most ignorant crap you will ever read (and have to respond to) in the discussion boards. I guess what I'm saying is I'm only here for the piece of paper I get when I graduate (which probably won't mean much) and it's a good thing I already know quite a bit about my degree program or I would be really screwed. I have been looking into other schools and am in the process of trying to find one that will accept at least a few of my credits. That's the thing with online schools, once you pick one, you're stuck so pick well!

I feel really bad reading all these absolutely horrible reviews. I am going on my second year at CTU and I find it very rewarding. Do not misunderstand me, I have had my fair share of pain. However that is with ANY university you attend. I have been to a brick and mortar college as well and honestly it is what you make it. If you want to complain and make things miserable for yourself you WILL fail. I have even had occasions where my instructor gave me someone elses "F" when I actually had an "A" on assignments. I did not rant or rave I simply emailed them and asked them to look over my assignment once more and was given the proper grade. I have had many ups and downs at CTUO but that does not make it a horrible school. I am disappointed that so many people are having a hard time there. I have had a rough time but it's been more good than bad in my experience. If you want to make it at CTUO you have to put in the effort. Earning your degree is a long bumpy road. If there were no challenges you would wonder if it was even worth getting a degree. I am sorry to hear about the disheartened here, but you have to find a way to turn your negative into a positive or you will never get ahead. No matter what school you go to if you have a bad attitude the bad experience cloud will follow you.

The teachers I had were okay, some better than others, but there will be bad teachers anywhere. My problem lies within the program, many of the books were useless, I barely open a book unless it was the coding book, or the HIM book. The knowledge checks are a big joke, since the word things weird. I owe the school 700-800 dollars, not much, but enough for them to block me from getting my degree and my transcripts. Only later to find out that the degree in the coding is useless, since it's being outsourced to India. If I would go back, and change my mind, I would. It's not worth the stress, your money, nor your time.

I graduated from CTU with both a Bachelors and Masters (I already know what you are thinking). Even though I have obtained these degrees I would not be quick to recommend anyone to this school. Not all teachers were bad but to be honest the bad out numbered the good. I had one teacher fail me and had to take the class over and submitted the same work I submitted to the first teacher and passed the class with an A. Who does that? I am still looking for a job today and wonder the real value of these degrees. I had an issues getting my degrees. I wanted to become a teacher and go to another school but was denied. So be careful.. They are over priced and you will quickly go into debt. Be mindful everything that shines is not gold. Not all of my experience was bad but if I had to do all over I would pass.

I was already pursuing a MBA at the University of Colorado when my job transferred me to a new city. I had completed 6 classes with no grade lower than A-. I made the poor decision when I moved that instead of staying at CU (getting a new job), traveling for school, or attending only online classes; I would transfer to a new grad school to finish my MBA as soon as possible. At the time, graduating with the piece of paper was more important. After all of my academic successes and licenses earned, I made a very poor decision, in hindsight. As a side note, do not transfer grad schools. Start and concentrate fully on your study and creating job opportunities. The only exception I see to this rule would be if you could transfer from an average school to a top 25 business school. First, CTU has a policy that all work must be submitted in APA format, even short one paragraph assignments. This is a bit excessive. Additionally, the American Psychological Association style is specifically that, for psychology. It is true that other medical professions sometimes use this style, but APA is reserved for the soft sciences. I have never used APA in my undergrad, graduate, my published work (yes, I am published), or my professional reports. APA is not relevant to my work as my MBA is supposed to be relevant to the world. Second, and my biggest problem, is that my classes were very simple. CTU was easier than my undergrad work, and I'm talking about my easier 300 level classes. My marketing class was a series of show and tell sessions where we described an everyday object. My management class required two papers a week summarizing articles. I repeatedly added my own analysis with references and graphs to which my professor replied, you are over achieving on every assignment but very good work. I was trying to challenge myself, plus that level of work was required in my previous schools. My finance management class was comprised of such subjects such as, what is a stock, what is a bond, how does life insurance work. These discussions were hardly 600 level, I felt like I was in a high school class. In one class the professor could not answer the question, what does ETF stand for?, a rather simple question. This professor was the Dean of the Finance Department. After the first two weeks of class the professor actually approached me and asked that I teach in his class. He asked that I teach certain topics, lead discussion, and through example and lecture, show the other students how to apply financial thinking and concepts. My classes continued this way in every subject. I didn’t take a single test at CTU. I was also never required to submit any final projects that were greater than any individual paper that was assigned throught a semester. My “capstone” class, which is supposed to be my chance to prove I was worthy of my MBA and include research and analysis from all subjects in the business school, was not at all like that and was one of my easiest classes. I actually took the capstone class in the middle of my semesters to get it out of the way, instead of at the end of my degree program. I was not required to take any law classes (even ignoring the fact that I had taken three business law classes at CU), only one very elementary economics/accounting class, only two finance classes (even though finance was my specialization), and no classes in operations or logistics. Unfortunately, I was getting exactly what I had asked for: the easiest way to get that piece of paper that said I have a MBA. I wanted the fast track and CTU provided the bullsh*t “schooling.” Third, CTU advertises itself as the future of education, “career-focused,” “industry-specific,” and focused on advanced technology. None of those dash excessive adjectives were true. Not once did we work with mentors in the business world or any actual companies. Never did we discuss how our projects were mirrored to actual projects in the real world. We never had a guest speaker from a local business. While my career was pushing me harder and setting expectations for me upon graduation, my schooling at CTU seemed to be “dumbing” me down. I should have been on the payroll (which I was later offered by the Dean of Finance) than wasting time and money. We didn’t even use Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Project, Outlook, or Access for our work (although I secretly did even knowing my grade could be punished) even though those programs are used in the real world. We were forced to use some software no one outside of CTU has ever heard of or used. It was also expensive software that CTU sells. That must be part of the “for profit” designation CTU carries. None of our work was ever shared with local businesses to show our potential as employees to those businesses. I would never use any of my school work from CTU to sell myself in interviews, I do use work samples from my CU schooling in interviews to prove I can work for employers. That was what CU advised me to do, and has received many kudos from interviewers. CTU promises a nontraditional college experience with a focus on technology like in the real world. The extent of CTU’s technology was using email to communicate to teachers (that’s not groundbreaking), submitting papers online (also not groundbreaking but funny when the papers were prepared in class and the teacher couldn’t accept them directly to his computer but we all sat there wasting time waiting for our work to upload, then the professor had to open the papers individually), then meeting as teams in some classes in the CTU online chat rooms. The irony being that I rarely talked to a team member in or out of class as it was explicitly against guidelines. This “advanced” technology made all teamwork a hassle and counterproductive. That was the extent of technology at CTU, PowerPoint for presentations was accepted sometimes but not supported. I even had more than one professor state they would not share their PowerPoint notes and lectures with the class because that was their work, not ours. I still don’t understand why you would teach from PowerPoint slides but not allow students to review those slides after class when studying. Furthermore, the online portion of each class (whether it was 50% or 100% of the attendance) was forced and almost every professor complained about it. CTU has yet to figure out how to use an online platform to teach, their attempts are so awkward and made work very difficult. Lastly, CTU has little to no career services. They try to pass off their very small and security job dominated job fairs as career helpful. But these aren’t helpful since almost no local or nonlocal businesses attend, and no one in the business school is attempting a degree of being a security officer. They have only one person on staff to help with interview preparation and resume building. I feel that a graduate candidate should already have these skills and professionals they can network with, but apparently this is not true at CTU. The career services employee came straight from 20 some years in the military and did not have any educational or professional experience to qualify him as a career services mentor. The marketing professor invited him to come to our class and effectually waste an entire period teaching us about resumes. The info presented was misleading, incorrect, and horrible. I have worked in HR depts., I have worked closely with HR depts. and employees professionally and in networking, and I have my own mentors and experiences to back me up. This career services individual “taught” all the wrong things to do as the only right way to write a resume. He taught that the longer the resume the better because it shows the candidate has more experience (no matter the quality of the experience or resume), he taught many pages are best. He taught that sections titled hobbies, interests, skills, qualifications, education, licenses, should all be separate sections, even though some of those are synonyms for each other. He also said that personal interests should be included, the more the better. I still don’t know what my interest in cooking, bird watching, and UFC have to do with getting a financial analyst job, not to mention I don’t even like those things particularly. He also promoted the use of objectives (I don’t agree but I do accept that many people do like the objective section), but he specifically stated the objective should be many sentences, include as many adjectives as possible, and does not need to relate to the actual job being sought (I wholeheartedly disagree). I had many, many other problems with CTU but I achieved exactly what I intended: a piece of paper that says I have a MBA. I list my MBA on my resume. But I regret how I failed myself by taking the easy way out, and I didn’t even save money. Fortunately, I was able to finish my MBA in six months; unheard of from real schools. Additionally, in many interviews I’ve had to defend my MBA to the interviewers since CTU is not respected. During my time at CTU and since, I have passed the Series 7 and 66, passed the CFA Level 1 and 2 tests, earned an insurance license, and taken the LSAT. I’m hoping those accomplishments fill my gap the MBA doesn’t.

I've been at CTU for about 6 months. I already have a job and am working to make myself more marketable. Yes, the material is rushed. That's the point, I am working on knocking out a BSIT in 2 years! You're paying for the expedited schedule, and ability to attend live/recorded classes. Don't go to ANY school thinking just because you graduate that you'll get a job. That's not how the world works ;)

I am a July 2006 Graduate of the Bachelor's of Science in Software Engineering and I think the experience was far better than a brick and mortar school. The material was currently and the problem was predictive of the major Java demand. I would ding them hard for the not diving deeper into the J2EE, but that would be a 3 course addition for that subject is massive and a moving target. But, never the less if CTU would push to increase the knowledge in this area, then they would put a lot of play to work faster. DON'T BE FOOLED! After you sign the papers to start, the nicest is over and you better be ready to work your butt off! I sent more nights up pass 2 AM completing assignment, papers, discussion boards. Yeah, it wasn't hand holding nor fun. I was terrified of failing classes because it was not cheap! (About $30K-18 months) Great school, great experience, and after leaving the Midwest to go rocky mountains west I am in the six figures range income wise.

My only suggestion to anyone considering this college is that they think long and hard before putting up the application fee because if you do change your mind you will wait forever for a refund if you even get one! I am still waiting impatiently for mine!

I am about to graduate from CTUO. This is not a school for everyone the courses are SHORT and demanding. At first it was easy but as I got closer to my bachelors it got harder and harder. That is to be expected. They also gave very little time to complete assignments even though it was getting harder. They expected work and family to take a sideline to school. They do not fix discussion boards even though they have been messed up for two years now. Worked great initially but they had an “update” and never worked since. I called, emailed and online chatted with tech support and they are next to useless. They automatically assume it is your fault, even when you show them proof to the contrary. Teachers are good for the most part but you will never graduate with a 4.0 because at least a third of the instructors will dock you 5% for no other reason than “APA” or some other vague excuse. Asking for a specific reason or complaining is useless. Books are E-books which are useless and most of the books don’t even relate to the material being taught. You are required to do “extensive researches not use the book”. Then why in the hell am I paying for them. You pay the same for e-books as you do real books but don’t get to keep the e-books after school is over. You cannot download them or print them but you pay for them. Over all a very bad school with a piss poor attitude and format and I learned nothing.

Traveling in my career prevented me from attending a traditional university for 2 decades. Initially I was skeptical of attending a for-profit school in an online environment. However, in the end, CTU seemed to have the key elements that would accommodate my circumstances. Attending CTU Online isn't for the undisciplined and those seeking an easy path. On average, I invested between 20-30 hours a week in course attendance and homework. My student recruiter led me to believe it would only take 10-15 hours a week. In just a little over 2 years, I managed to complete about 2 years of college course work while working full time. Additionally, I took CLEP proficiency exams to test out of just less than 1 years’ worth of underclassman (Freshman/Sophomore) course level classes. If you can test out of any lower level classes, save the money and take the test. Most of the professors with CTU were outstanding. They knew their topics well and communicated in an impressive fashion. A few of them were duds, but how is that different from the traditional school setting. Overall, I learned a lot of things that I've applied in practical professional settings. For example, we had to use Excel rather heavily for numerous courses. Having become very proficient in Excel, I’ve figured ways to greatly increase my work productivity and that of our staff. A disappointing aspect of CTU Online was the turnover of the student advisors. I believe this is one of the downsides of a for-profit university environment. They are very aggressive in getting the students in the school and keeping them there (However, back in 1985, my non-profit college recruiter was also pretty aggressive and told me whatever I wanted to hear in order to go to the first college I attended). With CTU, I got the impression they applied a lot of pressure on the recruiters and advisors to produce and if they failed to do so, those employees were either quickly dismissed or they quit. Just know that if you begin the process of inquiry with them, you better be serious about going back to school, because they will pursue you. I was serious and ready, so their aggressiveness wasn’t a factor for me. The end result of all this has worked out great for me. For about 20 years, I was passed over in career advancement opportunities, because I lacked a degree. As soon as competing organizations learned I was about to complete my BS in Business Administration, they started calling me. In June of 2007 I finished my undergrad degree with CTU and immediately accepted a position that paid 54% more than the job I previously held. Today I'm working in my dream position for a nationally based organization that embraces and values the skills I learned throughout my career and my time with CTU. At just 5 years post-graduation, I’m now earning 70% more than what I was making prior to completing my degree. My situation and outcome may be unique, however a degree through CTU Online can bring the results you desire if you are willing to pay the financial costs and truly invest the time it takes. A potential student must go into this understanding CTU is out to make money. However, they offer a valid education through a nationally accepted and accredited educational association. If you understand this, it is a win-win situation. If you are naive enough to believe you can get a degree without the proper investment of time and money, you will get something worth less that the parchment on which your certification is printed.

CTU is a great college! The materials and academic experience is realworld-relevant and has increased my tactical and knowledge based capabilities. I am greatful for all experiences at CTU; challenges, peer interactions, group projects, individual research/projects, reading's, responsibility, and the like.

Only go to this school if you don't value your dollar for education. I graduated with honors for an MBA. The school employs some instructors who cannot speak English-so you will only understand a portion of the class lectures. Don't bother complaining because they will not make any changes. Several times during classes you will be expected to work in groups and I experienced on numerous occasions how other students will plagiarize their work and even when it is brought to the attention of the instructor, that student will be able to pass the course with an "A". To me this is a joke and is a reflection on CTU that surely employers do notice. CTU is not a desirable university for employers despite what they tell you. Employers know how easy it is to get a degree from CTU and this means that the students really do not know what is going on.

For those who give negative feedback, you've never been to a real school obviously. You are paying for an education. It's up to you to READ the books and to get that education. I have an AAS in Aviation Sciences from Utah Valley State Univeristy. AS in Graphic Design, BA in Animation from Westwood Technical College. Then came to CTU after a few bad Experiences with Uni of Ph, and Full Sail Uni. I decided to complete a few classes for the AAS in Criminal Justice, Just completed the BA in Homeland Security and Emergency Management Feb2011, now working on my Masters and will Gladly use this school to get my Doctorates. Ive been to many schools attended on campus and online for most. CTU is BY FAR the best school for what they have. If you don't like the learning on your own format, do not even think about going to college. This isn't high school, they won't hold your hand through your classes. They do answer emails. There are 2 classes a week. I've NEVER had a professor miss more than 2 classes in a 5.5 week session. Wed discussion boards are due, Sundays peer responses to those discussions are due. Then Monday Individual projects are due. You don't do crap for homework, so those who complain that this is too much can literally go fall off a cliff. I remember having 2,000 word essays due each day in high school for a basic Lit class. Plus is had 8 other classes to do at the same time. CTU is a great school, take it for the right purposes. Each of their classes are technical courses. Which means you have a class and you learn A LOT if you decided to READ the BOOKS and materials.!!! you know when you work at simple jobs like Home depot for 3 years, they want you to take a class to become a manager or a supervisor. That 1 basic class brings you up that much because it's a technical class. EVERY CLASS YOU WILL TAKE AT CTU. IS A TECHNICAL CLASS. there are a few basic courses that are common sense, but if you chose not to learn from the materials, you are cheating yourself out of your money. After my BA degree I opened up my Own Federal Agency. I'm a CEO at 23. I'd say THANK YOU to CTU for the classes I took there helped me understand the aspects of homeland security and allowed me to do this. Maybe in the future you all will see my Inducted into the Department of Justice like I am trying to do now. If any of you have issues that are keeping you from applying at CTU feel free to email me. You may be interested in this college for one reason or another, but you probably want to get your education for a job. You need to know that if you give them your e-mail or any information they will abuse the crap out of it. Upon sending my info to them online on their website requesting some information, I was called the next day by a recruiter who would not stop talking to me, even at work. I asked him to call back later. Oh, they called back alright. They called back the next day and the next day and the next day and the next day etc. Once I stopped answering they apparently elevated my situation to one of their "top recruiters." I didn't buy it at all, this was the most pushy, needy woman on the planet. But, somehow I was about to start classes when I decided it wasn't time for me. Apparently this was unacceptable and I was told "NO" at first. I just said to her, I don't care what you think AT ALL, I am not doing this. This was not enough apparently and they elevated me to her boss at some point. This is when I told her that I do not want to talk to that person ever again and the only way to get them to stop talking to me for now, was to tell them I would be taking classes next "session" instead. So guess what they did, started calling me again 5 weeks later and it was the same push woman who wouldn't let it go. Well, my temporary employment at my awesome job ended and I was stuck questioning what to do. So, when this obnoxious woman called back, I ended up agreeing to take the classes. This didn't stop her from calling me every single day until I filled out the online forms. Once I did this I never heard from her again. This was both a blessing and a sign of shady things to come. The first class they FORCE you to take (I say the first, because you have absolutely no control over which classes you take, when you take them, and the time they are)is a very, very elementary introduction class to the "online campus." Here you learn about setting goals and most of your grade is determined by idiotic responses to people's phony interest in the school and "information" we were getting. Also, there was no book for this course, but you still have to pay the full tuition fee, which I was told was so inflated due to books and material. The "live sessions" are one hour, twice a week, incredibly boring listening sessions. After the first 20 minutes of the teacher figuring out what she was doing and talking to students she began her now 40 minute lecture. This was about 5 minutes worth of material expanded for the duration, in part because of her slowness and in part because really dumb people had actual questions about what she was talking about. This class was mostly a joke, but it was just an introductory class, so I assumed that my next set of real classes would be much different. My next set of classes start and lo and behold it is exactly the same setup. We are forced into responding to students for a grade with half-assed and phony responses. I still only have a 1 hour (ish) period of listening to a boring instructor and now there are group assignments. On top of all of this, I was taking classes that I didn't want to and didn't care about. So finding the motivation to get up at 5AM to listen to the teacher live was impossible. Apparently someone intelligent thought it was okay to have a 5am live class, which I figure I am paying for a class to participate in. I e-mailed the teacher about this and he said it will not change. So after the first week of hell, I decided I didn't want to do this. This is when very bad things started happening. I call them up on monday and ask to be withdrawn from the terribly rushed and boring 5.5 week classes I was forced into. I got an immediate "NO." Apparently you only have the first 5 days of class to withdraw and get your money back. Unfortunately this was the moment I realized I participated in a huge scam. There was no pleading or arguing with these people that would change their mind, because it was "policy." But the good news was, I could withdraw and NOT get my money back! These people are a joke and could care less about any one student. After weeks of pleading with financial aid advisers, my financial aid was revoked because I accepted the withdrawal and I was stuck with a $900 bill and a $1200 loan for 2 classes I did not take, or want to take. I even filed a dispute with financial aid describing my situation and what had happened. It was promptly denied and I was left screwed over, learning nothing. Sorry for the really long rant, but this place is mostly a money grubbing scam. If you want rushed courses that are packed into 5.5 weeks and cost over $1200 each this college may be for you. If you want little to no time with an instructor and a 1 hour twice a week listening and holding internet hands "live session," this may be the college for you. If you want forced group interaction, awkward communication, and a to hear meaningless responses from people that are probably dumber than you (no offense), this may be the college for you. Just know, you are only a dollar sign to these people.

I must start by saying that I graduated with a 4.0 at CTU, so I'm not just another disgruntled student who thought he/she was going to get an easy ride; I put a lot of time and effort into earning my degree at CTU. I went above and beyond on my assignments to try to really understand the subject matter. Learning the material was really important to me, not just getting an A with the least amount of work possible. Overall, CTU is not a very good value. The school is among the most expensive there is for online programs. The programs are really a joke in my opinion. First, the school tries to use the same exact syllabus for each class, which just doesn't work out very well. In other words, you end up writing a paper on math instead of actually doing/learning math problems. Secondly, the discussion board postings are worthless. Every week you have to participate in discussion boards, but there is never really any meaningful discussion going on. The discussion postings are mainly students who can barely read or spell posting comments such as, "great work, keep it up!" Third, you get virtually no help from the professors. During my time at CTU I tried to contact professors on several occasions to ask questions/seek more help on various subjects. I never received an answer of any sort. I was always told to Google it or watch the class lecture. I did watch the class lecture, but needed some additional explanation. What is the point of having experienced professors if they are just going to tell you to Google it? They don't even "teach" during the lectures; they simply read a PowerPoint slide to the class. Fourth, many times the subject matter was off base. For instance, in the object-oriented design class we wrote a procedural based program, not an object-oriented program. WTH? I got a 99 for the class, but didn't really learn much about object-oriented design. I learned more about object-oriented design within an hour of reading Head First Java on my own time than I did during the entire object-oriented design course at CTU. It seems that you are graded more for your ability to write than you are for understanding the subject matter. I will say that the technology is top notch, but it does little to overcome the weaknesses in curriculum. Fifth, financial aid was also dishonest with me. They are pressured to tell students whatever they need to tell them to get the most money possible. I explicitly explained to financial aid that I didn't want to take more classes than my student loans would cover in a year and if I had to drag out the length of the program that was fine. The main point was that I didn't want to have to pay out-of-pocket. Of course they told me I had plenty of available loan money and kept me enrolled in the maximum number of classes each term. Next thing you know, they said I'd need to pay $8000 for the remainder of the year because I had already used up all my loan money. I paid because I had no choice if I wanted to finish. This really left a sour taste in my mouth. Before this happened, my opinion of CTU was just that they were any other business with good intentions but simply had a very weak program. To me, the dishonesty there showed me they are worse than that - cons out to extort as much money as possible from their students in as short a time as possible. I'll leave with this: the program is very, very easy and you won't really learn much, even if you go above and beyond. But, you will earn an accredited degree. If you're a working adult that hasn't been in school in over 20 years and consider yourself weak academically, you might benefit a little from CTU's degree program. Otherwise, there are much better schools such as UMASS (same price as CTU) and Western Governors ($6000 per year) for the same price or less than CTU. The important thing to remember here as potential students ponder attending CTU is that earning a degree is not the answer, it's really what you do with the knowledge gained. With that said, I cannot recommend CTU for 95% of the population. You'll end up with $50k in debt with little skills or knowledge to show for it. Even if another school such as Western Governors were found to be no better, at least you'd only be $12k in debt, not $50k. I only posted this review because I don't want other students to be in the same boat I'm in; that is, a lot of debt with little education. I'm looking into attending another institution and earning a second degree just because I feel that my time spend with CTU was pretty much useless. I hope that those reading this won't make the same mistake I did. Please, find another school to attend.

Go elsewhere. I attended CTU online and graduated Magna Cum Laude with a BSBA in IT. While attending this school for a year and a half, I don't think I ever read the books. The courses are crammed into 51/2 weeks (as opposed to 12) and every subject has at least one group project where you have that one person who doesn't do anything or surprisingly shows up at the last minute to do the bare minimum and expect full credit. The professors are a joke too...I had several who never bother attending their own live chat sessions and would constantly reschedule. For the amount of money your paying for your education, you should be getting the most out of it, not learning the bare minimum and having to "google" every subject to learn about it. The last straw was that I was enrolled for my Masters degree in software engineering and one week before the class was to start, the admissions counselor calls me to tell me that I needed to take advance math courses and that I couldn't attend the software engineering program. Ughhh...do yourself a favor and find an online university that actually takes the time to teach the students. I found one where the online course is the same as what the traditional students take in the same time frame. I'm learning more now than what I ever did from this place.

My student adviser assured me that I would earn professional certificates as I earned my degree.Four different certificates within my chosen program were described to me; and it was explained that these were simply part of the program - no additional cost in tuition. When I questioned the school about where and when my certificates would be obtained, I was informed that online students are not able to earn such certificates. This was extremely disappointing and angering; part of my decision to attend CTU was based on these certificates in addition to my degree.

CTU is an awesome school. I have been attending since the middle of 2010. I received my Associate of Science and am now wrapping up classes to get my Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice on 5-15-12. This is not a cake-walk. You have to put a lot of work into getting a good grade. I have a 3.95 GPA and have worked very hard to get it. Believe me, this is not a diploma mill! ALL of my instructors work in the field they taught, and all were great at giving feedback, help, and answered emailed questions within 24 hours. Their Criminal Justice programs are top-notch!

For the most part, my experience at CTU Online has been positive. The school gives you two classes at a time that are 5 1/2 weeks long. It is a fast-paced school. I have attended a traditional school, and my experience here has been different. To begin, there are almost no multiple choice tests; everything is essays. This produces two different results: 1. If you have poor writing skills, you will not succeed here, even if you fully understand course concepts. 2. This allows the instructor to give biased grades. The instructors are supposed to follow a grading rubric, but it still gives plenty of room for them to lower a grade based on opinion. The classroom structure overall allows teachers to favor some students, and not others. For example, I had an instructor grant an entire class one free late pass, no explanation needed, for any assignment in the course. At one point, I asked for an extension and gave proof of an extreme medical emergency, yet I was denied. When I asked the reason, I was told she had too many to keep up with so she couldn't accept mine late, too. The school told me that they recognized that it wasn't fair, but if I contested it, I would run the risk of "rocking the boat" and receiving low grades for the remainder of the class. To me, this was a perfect example of how the structure of the class allowed the instructor to take advantage of their position; if I made her too upset, my grade would suffer. If I had chosen a school with actual tests, then this wouldn't have happened. I have not yet tried to switch schools; I am so close to graduating, that I'm going to take my chances. I know there is a common misconception that CTU Online is not accredited. However, if the students making those claims filled out their FAFSA application electronically, then they would see that it is, in fact, accredited. The website specifically tells you what schools are accredited, and which ones aren't. To wrap this up: This school is very different than a traditional school, but not unlike other online schools. The cost looks high, but it does include materials like books, webcams, software, and more, and traditional schools do not include this when they give you tuition costs. Finally, if you decide to attend here, butter-up the instructor as much as possible; it will benefit your grade.

As I was researching schools for a graduate degree in Information Systems Security I came across CTU online. I was told by the recruiter at CTU that I would receive credit for prior learning, and experience. The classes looked interesting and the online school was tied to a brick and mortar school. In addition it was an NSA Center of Excellence. So I believed the recruiter and came on board with CTU. I had my graduate transcripts from George Washington University sent to CTU only to learn they could not give me any credit for them because they were 5 years old. Then they told me to write up descriptions for my certifications. If the descriptions matched to some of the course material, I could get credit for those courses. Since I knew several of my certifications would map to the course material, I gladly wrote up the descriptions. I have the following certifications: CISM OCSP CNSS 4015 CNSS 4012 CNSS 4011 NSA IAM FQ Navy Validator After I pulled together those descriptions and sent them, I was told they can't give me credit for any of them because I am at the Graduate level and they only give credit for professional certifications at the undergraduate level (funny how Western Governors seems to have no problem with this)! Then they told me to send my resume and a write up of my experience and references. Determined to get credit for the many years of work and study I have in the field of information security, I put that package together only to then hear again, I can't get credit for any of that at the graduate level - they only do that at the undergraduate level! For CTU, it was clearly about the money. Had I known CTU would give me no credit for anything I'd done, I would not have gone to CTU. So, to make a long story short, they lied . In the mean time, I took the Operating Systems security class, which was taught by someone who barely had an understanding of information security. Since he had no clue about OS security all he taught was security policy and management. Next came network security, and that was taught by an instructor I had for systems engineering. He knew systems engineering but was out of his element with network security. It was painful to watch him stumble through it! Then there was an instructor who's slides and English looked like it came from a 12th grader. Obviously I was too far in to get out. So, I stuck it out. In my very last class, they tortured us again with these ridiculous group assignments (have you ever tried to work in a group with people who are all full time employed, living in different time zones? It doesn't work out too well). There were four of us in the group. One person dropped out. The instructor then told the rest of us in an email that we had to make up the missing student's work! So, not only do I not get credit for work and experience and certifications, but I also get to now do work that some other student was supposed to do! That was jut adding insult to injury! I called student advising and complained and I was told it is the instructor's discretion. How can this be? If CTU is going to play money hard ball with students, then we are definitely customers and need to be treated equally. To me that means if someone in another group writes one paper and has a shot at the same grade, I should not be asked to write two for the same grade! In addition, given that I am a Navy Veteran and have been working and leading teams for the pat 13 years, I think I've had my fair share of experience in terms of picking up the slack for someone else. CTU does not need to try to teach me that lesson either. So, in all – if this ends up being the case that the only way I can maintain my GPA is by taking on another student's work, then the complaint may end up being a bit more than just a complaint. It is bad enough that I was lied to during the recruiting effort. But to not get credit for prior learning as promised only to then be saddled with doing another student's work is really adding insult to injury.

I am a summa cum laude graduate of CTU online. I also have an accounting degree from Indiana University (brick and mortar). The quality of instructor was absolutely unacceptable. In fact in three different courses the instructor attended the first class and never during the duration of the class appeared again. Never!! Assignments were completed, submitted and finally in the last week of the course graded. Many of my classmates, myself included, filed formal complaints with CTU to no avail - or reduction in tuition - or an offer to take the class with an instructor that might hopefully show up! CTU cares about one thing - shoving the student thru the program and getting their money. In yet another instance the instructor ceased to teach a class in diversity when we asked for information that related to workplace diversity for other than African Americans. The instructor would simply sign in to the classroom, give the assignment submission deadline and sign out of the classroom. Again our complaints to CTU fell on deaf ears. Both complaints were escalated to the level of Wallace Pond - CEO of CTU at the time - with absolutely no response from CTU. I would assess that 20% of my instructors were very knowledgeable in their field and excellent in terms of their ability to communicate and respond effectively. I agree with other posts that the quality of education at CTU received is largely dependent on the effort put into it but unfortunately I think I paid and for a quality education and received a second rate correspondence school degree. By the way, I am very gainfully employed thanks in large part to my degree from Indiana University.

CTU is a good option for the mature student but is not for a student just beginning their college experience. If you are self motivated and have the focus to stay on schedule then you will do well. The cost of tuition is not competitive unless you already have most core classes done and you go there based on the fact you can graduate quickly. I completed about 5 semesters worth of classes in 17 months which is what I needed to make it into the graduate program at a local brick and mortar university. The coursework wasn't excessive and was comparable with the state university I began with.

I begin attending CTU in 2010 I pursued an Associate's Degree in Business Administration. I graduated September 2011. I am currently working on my Bachelor's in Health Administration. Since, I am already employed, I cannot say that having this degree has helped me with obtaining employment. It did help me get a $2.50 raise!!! The one thing I will say is, that I believe once you know how a program operates, you know how to deal with the people involved. In my associates program I had a baby and had to repeat two of my classes, while I was out I received a student stipend, Once I was aware that I would have to repeat my classes I asked financial aid did I have enough student loans and pell grant to cover my classes, I was told yes, but upon beginning to complete the classes I noticed that I had a balance of $2100. Its a long story and eventually it all worked out, but the lesson for this story would be, when speaking with financial aid write down everything. So another situation happened recently and because I wrote everything down, I was not in the dark and knew exactly what was going on in regards to my account. So best wishes to anyone who decides to attend the school. I give them a overally 9 because no one is perfect, but they are pretty close.

If any one writes a great review for Colorado Technical University has to work here. Every one of my classmated including myself felt like we were lied to from the beining and do not feel we got a very good eduacation. I will admit I had a bout 3 instructors who where awesome but the rest good luck. Not only did they not answer there email but did not teach anything in class. As for coding, my first instructor who taught me the ICD-9 coding was one of the most incredible teachers and with out her giving me a good foundation in the beginning I would never learned how to code and from there it got worse. Honestly myself and another student figured out how to code the CPT and HCPCS and how to assign the DRG and the APC's so we started having Sype session to help our classmates out. This college is a JOKE and now I have to pay for teaching myself. I am now enrolled in some AHIMA classes just so I can pass my cerification exams. I graduted with highest honors but big deal I have to pay for teaching myself and it really upsets me greatly And they also signed me up for a bachelors degree and also tried to get me to sign into one of the classes. If I would have I would have been stuck with about 30,000 more in fees. Please do not attend this place you will not learn a thing and a majority of the instructors ignore you or do not know what they are talking about. I have attended " Brick and Mortar" school, I pursued B.S.E.E @ The George Washington University. I did not finish due to family commitments ( maintained 3.65 GPA) and other demands. However, I was just as well challenged by CTU's program as I was with GWU. In fact I found that the discipline needed to complete the work was arduous but yet fulfilling. I have used some part of my education on a daily basis. I highly recommend CTU to any student for which the flexibility is a necessity. My career has benefited greatly form the degree. I repeat the program all over again. - CTU Grad ( Cum Laude GPA 3.69)

Choosing CTU was the best decision I could have made. After being out of school for 30+ years, I completed my associate program with a 3.73 GPA. Quite an accomplishment for someone who had no interest in being in school during my high school years. I am now halfway through completing my bachelor's program with a concentration in International Business and have a 4.0 GPA. As well, I am enrolled in my master's program, which is scheduled to begin August 19, 2012 immediately following my graduation from my bachelor's program. My interaction with my class instructors and learning lab facilitators has been nothing short of phenomenal. Most have business experience in the subject matter they teach and are able to bring real-world aspects into the material being shared to make it more enjoyable. I have stayed in touch with 99% of my instructors after our classes have ended. They are a terrific support system and never-ending fountains of valuable insight. All I can say is that anyone who had a bad experience with CTU did NOT take advantage of all the resources available to them. By comparison with other online schools, CTU has the most interactive platform between students and instructors you will ever find. Of course, the ones complaining are only looking for a place to lay the blame for their own failures. If one is looking for a free ride with no personal investment of time or energy, then of course they will find fault with the professors. Professors have high expectations of the students just as the students should have high expectations on their own success. As Colin Powell has said, "[t]he only place success comes before work is in the dictionary." For those saying the discussion board format is a way for instructors to have students grade another's work, you are so off base it's ridiculous. That is the last thing expected within that format. The concept is to share ideas and broaden each other's perspective. Apparently you were not present for the live chat in the first class where providing comments on grammar, punctuation and APA formatting is not the purpose of the forum. My overall experience with CTU has been challenging, rewarding and personally fulfilling. There are many reasons for seeking a higher education degree; however, if the primary focus is increasing your salary level or because you need it to get a promotion then you are in school for the wrong reasons and will never get the true value of what is being offering.

Originally starting out this school offered everything that i needed to complete my BS. After 4 classes I realized that the institution was not receiveing payments for my classes. When I started to make arrangements to take care of the tutition the schools finance department was very rude and did not care to really assist me. I was dealling with different people each time I called. To me the school is all about the money and not your education. Long story short for a great academic experience always pay on time. There is so much more but not enough time.

Worst thing ever! I cannot finish, I'm left with 40k in debt. They forced me to make monthly payments towards the debt while attending. They are not accredited and you cannot transfer out, because they are not accredited. No one will accept their so called courses. I should have been smarter and just attended a community colleges online classes for 1/8th the cost. Rip OFF!!!

Wow so many bad things to say about my experience at CTU. I realized after six months of attending CTU on-line that is a scam. These people should be ashamed of themselves for wasting tax payer money. I have found a newspaper article that anyone planning on attending any of these ridiculous on-line schools like CTU, ITT Tech, Westwood College or university of Phoenix, ECT... should read. It is titled In Hard Times Lured into Trade School and Debt. By: Peter S. Goodman. The New York Times, March 15, 2010. This article explains exactly what these types of phony schools are up to. I found CTU On-Line to be a miserable experience. The on-line class environment is a joke. All the instructors do is read you a book over the internet. Listening to the instructors just read you a book over the Internet was intolerable and boring. The instructors would never answer any questions, saying that they had to finish reading the required material in these live chats ("class sessions"). The assignments that some of the instructors posted were stolen from other schools internet sites word for word. I found this out by googling the key words of assignments and found the exact same words for assignments on other schools web sites. The instructors say you can e-mail them for help "since you can’t ask questions during the live chats”, but good luck getting a timely response. Most live on-line chat sessions I attended at this "school" had very few participants; maybe three out of forty people participated on average. The chats are recorded but that's even more intolerable and boring than listening to the live sessions. The instructors would have you grade and comment on other student’s papers. This was a joke because most of the papers sucked and I didn’t want to be the one to tell these people they had no clue what they were writing about. Most of the student responses would only be a few sentences like, nice work on your paper I found it interesting. This really was not helpful at all and a complete waste of time. The instructor’s comments for grades were basically the same, consisting of only a few sentences that really didn’t help me learn anything at all or correct my mistakes or clear up any confusing material. Most of the time the instructors would use the cop out that you can find everything you need on the internet, what a joke. They (CTU) have this thing called group assignments were you team up with others from all over the country to do assignments together. This never worked because of different schedules and time zones. I was the only one most of the time that would even try to get the group to work together. It never did go very well though. The APA style writing they push on you was a joke too. Every instructor had different interpretations of what APA was and nobody I talked to or even myself ever had much luck writing "correct" APA format. I was getting A's and helping other students out with programming concepts and Java code writing. If you attend this school you had better love sitting in front of the computer forever. The college algebra class came and myself and allot of other students were struggling and trying to find help, but there was none. I was spending 30 hours a week doing all these things and feeling like I was wasting my time and money. I learned more about computers from my own studies than the classes provided. Most students in my classes were so lost that I spent most of my time trying to help them make sense of the garbage the school was presenting. I really think that you should choose a school carefully and ones that advertise on the TV or radio usually aren't very good. I got out after $9000.00 in total charges after like six months and six worthless classes. I would have been better off investing that money in any other way rather than trying CTU. The admissions people are quite the sales talkers. They called me constantly for two weeks straight to get me to pay the $50 application fee and start my FASFA papers so they could get paid as soon as possible. What a joke that school will pass anyone through the courses so they can collect the easy money their stealing from government loans. I think people should attend a class room based school with hands on training. That's really the only realistic way to go. Who wants a bunch of Internet trained cops, engineers or doctors working with them, I know I wouldn’t. I would advise you to ask the HR department of a place you would like to work were they have their employees trained and go to those classes. I have taken company sponsored classes that got me certificates that increased my pay and value to the companies I was working for. Hope this helps and good luck in your search for a school I believe this school will accept anyone for their programs just to collect the easy money from the government loans they are stealing from. The fifty dollar application fee is just feel good tactic. Anyone who applies to this school will be accepted. Seriously DONT ATTEND THIS SCHOOL, YOU WILL JUST END UP IN BIG TIME DEBT WITH NO SKILLS TO PAY THE BILLS. Now I’m so mad because I was a MORON for believing this "school" was going to improve my education and job options. DONT GET SUCKERED IN LIKE I DID, I KNOW I WOULD HAVE BEEN BETTER OFF INVESTING THAT MONEY IN ANY OTHER WAY. This is possibly the worst idea I have ever had. They basically lied about how much my tuition was going to be and how long I would be enrolled for. My tuition is some 4000 dollars each term and I was told it should be more than 2000 or so on the initial interview. Most of my financial aid and loans go into paying this and I am left with basically nothing. Besides my qualms with their financial aid department not answering the phone most of the time the Instructors are absolutely TERRIBLE. I often have to turn to researching the internet and learning what to do over the Instructors teaching because they are horrible and don't seem to care at all. I can't believe this institution is in business and get's away with ripping people off like this. AVOID.

Do not attend this school if you want a job. I want to know what their actual percentage of people that get hired with their degrees are. I spent $20,000 at this school and all I got was a pretty piece of paper! I have been laid off for almost two years. I graduated in May of 2010 and I have had no calls for interviews. I am actually looking into spending more money on a real school so I can actually get a job! Look elsewhere. It is too expensive and it is not worth it. If I had a job, yes it would be worth it but the degree you get is not recognized by employers.

CTU is a very high pressure group of sales people. Right from my first contact inquiring about online college in Feb.- I was overwhelmed with lengthy phone calls, emails, told "I need you to "log-on" Go here, click there, fill this out, complete this, etc. If I didn't respond right away or said I want to hold off, they'd pass me off to the next person up the line for further convincing. Classes were to start mid-May. A month prior I tried to back out; I was very hesitant and concerned about cost. I did not qualify for a loan or grant. Pushed again and assured I'd have zero out of pocket cost, they moved forward. I was told I could withdraw at any time up to and within the first 7 days of class (disclaimer omitted). By May I was deeply involved in a family situation consuming my time and money. I was stressed and just wanted to withdraw and couldn't get the point across that I had reconsidered and just needed to hold off. Overall I tried three times telling three different advisors, the last attempt was 4 days before the "deadline" by email and voice mail, which wasn't received. Yet again pressured and now on day 8 of the first session ..."give it a chance, everyone is nervous at first" and "I've worked so hard for you" to "Just log in and I'll help you complete your assignments - I can even do it for you" and so on. Still trying not to be rude and after being pushed - I did agree to log in and do assignment 1. I had literally only posted one introductory message about myself, even then saying I wasn't feeling ready (got an A and more coaxing). Beware...a month after I finally got the advisor to understand I wanted out and was done - all of a sudden the collections dept.calls and rudely tries collecting several hundred dollars, due immediately, but with no prior notice. I learned the hard way that somewhere in those tasks and forms they had me "checking off" online, apparently I signed off on something that said I’d be charged each time I "log-on" to the students website. No wonder every call was all about "can you go online"? You'll want to have serious control with this group. Don't cave, be prepared, and of course, read the fine print!

I attended CTU for a year and a half, graduating in 2008 with a BSBA-IT degree. I had attended one other on-line degree University two years before starting this one, and had been completly unimpressed, so I was very thorough in checking this one out. My initial classes proved irksome, mostly because I was unfamiliar with the procedures and the two initial professors were a wrong choice for new students: non-communicative, poor people skills. After that, however, I became more familiar with the medium and impressed with the quality of the instructors. The level of support is very good - many resources to choose from. Immediately upon graduation I received a healthy wage increase at my place of business, where I am a Director of I.T. Overall, this can be a good experience, but as with anything else, you get out of it what you are willing to put in.

It's funny how some people have sought to downgrade CTU's program and delivery methods. I've attended both state and local colleges and as a working adult, the CTU program has allowed me to finish my education (2 months to go). I have found it to be totally legitimate - as evidenced by the many evenings and weekends I've spent hunched over my keyboard working on assignments. I would do this again and would recommend the BSBA to anyone interested in online schooling. I will admit that a few of the courses could use a little work but overall, I've had some very good instructors and have learned much over the past 28 months.

The first problem was credit transfer. An associates in Comp Sci and just shy of a Bachlors in Nuclear Engineering were insufficient for first year algebra. They would not commit to credits for industry certifications nor permit challanges to courses. They gave credit for a 3rd year network class but not its 2nd year prereq. Found myself in classes where 1/4 could not write a coherent paragraph & another 1/4 could not write a sentence. You pay thousands for a course in how to use the college, info readily available to anyone using the website. Courses were canned and presented by cheerleaders. They "lost" $5,000 in payments, went to collections, I had to have my bank prove payment had been made on time.

My name is Richard Thomas. I have a promising career as a software analyst for a major software development company and I am also a former U.S. Marine (89-93) and Soldier(95-03). Coloardo Technical University Online has been a great school for me because it fits in to my very busy schedule where I balance a full time job, my family life as a husband and father of 5, and school. My job requires me to travel almost every month and CTU Online allows me to carry the school with me. I've never had a problem getting my assignments in on time but the Professors are very understanding (within reason) on turning in late assignments. I have taken several correspondence courses and online college courses while serving in the military and I have to say that CTU is by far the best that I have been associated with. Their live chats are like sitting in a brick and mortar classroom and the Professors are very helpful. The use of tutors and their learning labs also are very helpful in learning the information. I have always had good, positive communication with the professors as well. Small group assignments help the students learn the skills necessary to work as a team in the "real world". The level of instruction is also top notch. There have only been one or two classes that I felt I was not challenged. Most of the classes are very useful and geared towards work related skills rather than just useless book knowledge that so many schools teach. On the negative side, the University is a business and they have used a lot of pressure sales tactics to get me to commit to classes and programs that I did not want to take. My advise is to stick to your guns and make sure you are taking what you want to take. It may take longer to get setup, but it is your education not theirs. The financial aide department is also very frustrating at times. However, so are most other schools financial aide departments. My Niece is enrolled at the University of Florida and she is equally frustrtated with their financial aide department. The important thing to remember is that all schools are in the business to make money. They have to be in order to stay in business. Regardless of whether you attend CTU or not, keep that in mind. You will have times you are very dissapointed and you will have times that you are extrememly happy at any school, or in life for that matter. For me CTU fits exactly what I needed. I earned my Associates degree in March of 2010 and am currently enrolled in the B.S.B.A. program and I am very happy with the school. CTU provides great instruction with relavant information and I can take it with me where ever I go. Although there are times when I get frustrtated, I am over all extrememly happy with this institution.

I contacted CTU in June 2010 to inquire about possibly transferring from my current school, to CTU's Master Program in Finance. While I can't comment on the actual course work, I will state the enrollment experience was very similar to purchasing life insurance or a used car- VERY high pressure sales push from my enrollment counselor. My enrollment counselor was completely uninterested in what was in my best interest, and was way more interested in just getting me enrolled in the school ASAP so they can start billing tuition fees. Instead of listening to what I my goals were, he repeatedly tried to get me to start a month earlier than I had originally wanted to. Then he proceeded to call me every day for two weeks trying to get me to change my FASA and dis-enroll from my current school, but I refused to do so. I didn't trust this guy and wanted to make sure I still had my current school to fall back on if my credits didn't transfer. So while I was waiting to here back about my credits, I got a surprise e-mail from the school saying I've had books on the way. Surprise! Now keep in mind, at that point in time I hadn't filled out a FASA, gone to orientation, or dis-enrolled from my previous school yet, but I had books in the mail for a class that turned out to be the same class I was trying to transfer. Unbelievable... When it came time to get an answer on my transcripts, he he gave me the same line everyone else is complaining about- that the transfers department couldn't take my classes, and that it would be same with any other school. Whatever!!! I'm going to keep shopping around, if what he says is true, I'll just stay with the school I'm already at. But I'm willing to bet he's wrong. I'm pretty sure someone out there is more than willing to take my loan money. To be fair, the actual classes might be awesome. So if you're starting fresh and not worried about transfering credits, this school might be good choice. And if you're in a hurry, they'll have you going in less than a month. CTU was an excellent choice for me. I found the material challenging and the staff well prepared to teach. Studying online is not for everyone because one has to be very dedicated and disciplined. They are accredited and really prepare you for the business world. I graduate next year with a BSBA-IT, but even when I got my Associates of Scienc, I got a job earning $38,900.00 which is not a fortune, but with just an Associates Degree, I think that it is a very good start, plus it got my foot in the door of a very good company. No school is perfect; there are Harvard MBA holders that are unemployed. If you are dedicated, disciplined and focused, it will work for you too.

CTU was a great choice for me to earn my BSBA with a Concentration in Marketing. I am a month away from graduating and I have already applied the knowledge and skills I have learned in my current work. CTU enabled me to develop better marketing plans and focus on strategic marketing techniques. Although it was not easy getting mostly A's, I managed to maintain my GPA at above 3.8. CTU will help any professional who is serious about obtaining their degree, but under time constraints to travel to a location with a quality education they can immediately use to impact their work. Having my degree is a great feeling of accomplishment!

I pursued the MSM in project management with CTU (this was a successful experiment). Online programs are challenging for both students and instructors; just as not every student can succeed in the virtual environment, not every instructor can teach in one for that matter. The curriculum was amazing, the technology of the course was superior, and my knowledge gained in the project management field surpassed that of project managers above me in my job field. The 18 month time consuming program is backed by the Project Management Institute. I sacrificed 18 months and I worked hard extremely, and attained a 4.0 while I watched other fine student misinterpret the requirement only to attain a 3.5 GPA. The instructors worked with my remote and isolated location from Hawaii, the lacking infrastructure that impeded my virtual progress, earth quakes, long work schedule, and travel. My peer group consisted of all high caliber students (unlike Phoenix), the instructors were intelligent and helpful (besides one who was a novice obviously), and the scenario based curriculum was a fine approach. Both schools would have been rather costly for me had it not been for the G.I. Bill. I am a civilian bomb technician and a nationally certified quality auditor (CQA). My job is to scrutinize written standards and move only when requirement is clear and concise as well as communicate clarity and requirement to the workforce. The biggest challenge of the online format is the team project. I understood clearly the requirement of each assignment, and if I did not, I would contact the instructor to tighten all the loose ends. My obvious understanding of each assignment allowed me to progress effortlessly with a 4.0 and focus all my time on researching the many aspects above the assignment’s requirement. Other students tainted the requirement with opinions, bias, or trivial bouts of laziness, and did not embrace all the available resources such as instructor chats and emails, the syllabus, or school materials. These students would argue the requirement and waste precious time playing email tag trying to sway other team members to join forces like on the show Survivor. I would tell them I have a 4.0, pump the brakes and listen to the requirement. I only ever had two team members with egos that were too inflated to see clearly. I was not boasting my grade more than applying it as unarguable proof of understanding. These students were difficult partners. Thus concludes the challenges of the online format. You will not go wrong pursuing an MSM in Project Management with CTU if that is your goal. I have launched myself far above my work peers in both certified education and knowledge attained by this program.

I attended CTU in 2005-2006. I entered with my A.S. degree from the Air Force. I completed my B.S. in 15 months (Dec 2006) and worked hard every month of those 15 months. I put in 20-30+ hours a week into my assignments while working full time and it paid off. I graduated with a 4.0 and am very proud of the hard work I put into it. I wish online degrees from quality schools, such as CTU, would get a little more respect from others out there. I'm married, with two kids, working full time and couldn't have returned to a pysical college campus. I feel I learned as much, if not more, than if I would have attended a brick and mortar school. You can't cut class or have a buddy take notes for you. YOU have to do all the work to get the credit and grades. So, I beleive I got a better education than if I did attend a "regular" school. I only have two negatives: Group assignements suck because some of your group members don't put the quality into the projects that I expected and did. The second is cost. Its pricey, but my GI Bill paid over $17k of it. And, with the 5% pay raise I recieved at work for obtaining my degree, it has paid for the remaining balance in two years. FYI, my degree was accepted by my employer, the State of California and recognized by the USAF. It's a good school and I recommend it.

I have 3 classes left to complete my 4 year degree in criminal justice. After all the student loans and 2500.00 out of my own pocket for the schools screw. I informed the school that I was going to complete my degree at another school and they froze my account and told me that I needed to pay $4000.00 to get my transcript. Dont get me wrong the instructors are for the most part good and work with you during the class, the problem is in the office especially financial aid. It is a money school. the school is also owned by the company that owns AIU, AMU, and other federal loan hungry schools. I did contact the dept of education and there are more than one complaint out there. I wish you the best, 162 credits and still dont have a degree.

This school ripped me off, they won't give me my transcript so I can move on. All I have is a debt worth more than a brand new car. I can't go anywhere and finsih out, I only need 26 more hours to my Bachlors and can't get it due to CTU! Thanks alot!!! I'm stuck and fear I have no where to go but beauty school? I am currently enrolled in the MBA program with a concentration in marketing. I completed by B.A. from a brick and mortar university. Overall, my experience at CTU has been a wonderful environment that has significantly increased my knowledge in marketing. The classes are challenging--some more than others. However, I have pushed myself and will have my degree in 4 months. Can I say that I enjoyed every one of my teachers?? No. However, that is just like any university or school. You will clash with certain teachers and their teaching style. Overall, my experience has been wonderful so far. As for others who have not completed at CTU, it seems that you failed and is bitter towards the university. This school is just like any school. Meaning, you have to work and push yourself in order to achieve your goals.
