American Public University Reviews:

Very Good School; Reputable and regionally accredited

Higher education is what you make it. Even brick and mortar schools utilize online training/homework almost as much as APUS/AMU. Sure, you may not be sitting down in a class room but have you heard of Adobe Connect? APUS utilizes one on one Skype w/ professors or Adobe Connect with many students and professors at once. The world is transitioning into a virtual reality. Get onboard now! Professors have wide range of experience and credentials. One professor was an actual congressman. Books are digital and free. Military TA paid for my B.A. in 30 months. You can transfer APUS credits to most regionally accredited universities (i.e. Florida State, Arizona State etc.). Self-discipline is key if you attend. You will not have the convenience of an official class start time, no tardiness showing up to class, no attendance requirements. You are held accountable for yourself and for turning in quality work on time. If you drop the ball or get behind in your work and you stay quite about it, you will pay for it, figuratively and financially. I recommend this school if you are active duty military and civilian who desires a reputable education at a good price with good professors. If you need the convenience of telecommuting your education with a regionally accredited reputable university, APUS/AMU is for you.

Wished I would have started with AMU/APUS in the 1st place!

I have attended 4 traditional universities and community colleges in the past and I feel that I was able to skate by in those schools. After becoming a student at AMU/APUS, I realized how much money I had wasted just to earn college credits...and not necessarily the education. The instructors are better qualified than most teachers I have had at my former schools as well. Be sure to read their biographies! Most of them work in the field that they teach and bring actual experience into the online classroom, and many also teach at other amazing schools! Over about the past 2 years in this program I have gained a lot of experience in research as well as prioritizing. This school has also provided me the skills to obtain a great internship with a large political institute, as well as given me the confidence and abilities to apply for law school. I have 2 classes left with this university so I feel confident in saying IT IS WORTH IT!

APUS Works For Me!

This school is solid all the way around. I'm a working adult professional in Law Enforcement and this school allows me the flexibility and opportunity to achieve my educational goals. I have been with APU for almost 4 months now and honestly I have no complaints. Unlike "some" others I have not had any issues with Financial Aid or Student Affairs. I have had quick responses to any "normal" issues I may have had thus far. The material is relevant and challenging and attending here is no walk in the park. You will earn your degree. Pound for pound APUS is a smart choice and you will get a lot of bang for your buck. No school is perfect, but so far I am more than pleased and hopefully in 2013 I will be "earning" my BA in Criminal Justice. APUS works for me.

So far, so good

APU has been pretty good to me thus far. To be quite honest, I jumped into APU without really doing any research about it. One of my friends at work told me about the undergrad book grant and that was what sold me. The fact that APU is a for-profit school worried me a bit. Not that I have anything against profit, I was just worried I would be turned down for a graduate program at a brick and mortar school because of it. Turns out that is not the case. I plan on going to Arizona State, which is a tier 1 school, and I asked the admissions counselor if a degree from APU would be an issue and she said it wouldn't. She said as long as the school is accredited there is no problem. All the materials for my program have been really good. My only issue is that I like to have a physical book in my hands instead of online books. But this is a minor issue. I haven't had a terrible time with the support staff like some other students. It's not perfect, but not horrible either. There is definitely room for improvement. My greatest concern will be how this degree will be received outside of the government. We shall see.
