American Public University Reviews:

Here's a hint:

Here's a hint: Look for distance education programs from colleges with a higher percentage of full-time instructors (50% or more). Those teachers tend to actually have some skin in the game and most likely care more about the learning process and specific course modules; they have less likelihood of being stuck on autopilot - actively being involved in the curriculum); and are not just looking to add something to their credentials that looks good on a resume. Combining higher FT / permanent staff / teacher percentages with a decent percentage of older (25+) adult and/or distance student learners seems to be a decent two-pronged indicator and litmus test for any online university's credibility and quality. You'll find many, if not most, universities are lacking to a great degree when applying this combined criteria.

General Ed and Humanities seem fine, beware otherwise

General ed and humanities courses have gone fairly well. I have enjoyed a number of those course. I would STRONGLY recommend avoiding the web design and psych courses. Web design learning materials were incomplete (school waters down the contents and eliminates accompanying learning tools - verified by the materials vendor). I actually learned more about web design by picking up a much more coherent and cohesive text at the local Barnes and Noble than I had in 8 weeks of class dealing with the god-awful instruction eBook. Psych classes provide decent to excellent eBook instruction (but again, additional materials and learning tools normally attached to the text have been eliminated - APUS most likely cutting costs). Teachers tend to be on autopilot, have been disingenuous in some cases. Plus, the psych dept. has yet to form a psi-chi chapter. Perhaps for good and telling reasons. Am Psych Assoc. also doesn't not recognize AMU/APUS as an acknowledged psych school according to the APA's educational guidelines provided on their website. Also, beware of 8 week courses than use material never intended to be shrunk below twelve weeks. Of course, you most likely can't know this for any given class until you are actively in the course and do some investigative work from the info provided in the syllabus. Long story short...I'm aggressively seeking a better option for a psychology and social sciences program.
